I like what I saw from Roger Mason on the point and 2 guard spot. He shot the 3 well and played D. A very good 3rd scoring option at the 1, 2 or 3. We only need some consistent scoring in the 17 pt range to put us over the top. #8 Roger Mason Washington Wizards | PG | RSS | Shop | Tickets Player Card | Stats | Game Log | News | Fantasy Profile Ht/Wt: 6-5, 200 lbs. | Age: 27 Birthplace: Washington, District of Columbia | College: Virginia Drafted: 2002, 2nd round, 2nd pick by Bulls More Player Card » Statistics G MIN PPG APG RPG 3P% 2007-08 Season 80 21.3 9.1 1.7 1.6 .398 Career 185 14.3 5.5 1.1 1.2 .374 More Stats » The Nets have a list of about 20 names, mainly wings, and near the top is Roger Mason, a 6-foot-5 guard who averaged 8.0 points with Washington last season, when he made a minimum $770,610. Figure he'll command in the $2.5 million range. Also of interest to the Nets are Warrior forwards Mickael Pietrus and Matt Barnes, Orlando's Maurice Evans, Indy's Kareem Rush, Knick Fred Jones and Clipper Quinton Ross. NY Post
i am very highly of roger mason. hes the backup for tmac that we've been yearning for. and the fact that he can manage the offense when playing PG is another positive of why we should sign him. acquiring him would give us more flexibility when trading bjax and luther head
you might as well add Rodney Carney to that list. Call the 76ers and talk trade with them. I think he is an expiring also. Head for Carney straight up
I remember he was a great bench player and what is important very good 3point shooter for Wizards last season, so why not. He is pretty young too.
I was somewhat disappointed with his playoff performance but he played well in the regular season. I would rather go for Mo Evans instead.
Mason FINALly stepped his game up. It took him forever...but he made some serious strides from last year to the end of this year. He's now a worthy 2nd string player. So yes, I'd be down.
was this stepping up a case of playing just for a meaty contract on your meaty year? maybe its another mike james 20ppg season with a regression of 100% after the new contract is signed... sounds like it anyway
hes 27 and had his best season last year a.k.a contract year hes listed as a point guard but averages 1.1 assist not good but if he was with the rockets he would play the 2 I assume but with all that said he has 2 inches on luther head and really thats all I see so I would pass on him
Let's see we would spend money on a guy who didn't break the Nets starting lineup. He did average 8 pts a game but on .404 shooting including .235 from 3-pters . You starting to get my point? The guy only scores and he only did that because he shot the ball more than he should have on a crappy team.
I'd much rather offer money to former Net Antoine Wright of Dallas. He is a 6-7, 210-lb SG who is an unrestricted FA. He's athletic and has a good shot, and he signing him strengthens us and weakens Dallas. Despite his being an Aggie, he is at least a Texan with a solid basketball IQ. Personally, I would much prefer him to Mason or Maurice Evans (despite his being a Longhorn).
