Well, I use to post on a message board that would have this debate everyday, the board was going spam like, (via ESPN). However, I do believe this is a very good debate. One player is a pass-first PG who has to set up his team and run their offense, the other player is a score-first PG who has the potential to do so much. In my opinion, I believe Stuckey is the better player, but Rondo is the better point guard. Rondo does things you would want as a point guard which is set up your team, get your guys going to score. I am sure Stuckey is also capable of doing that, however his best attribute is his scoring. He is one of the best finishers at his position, he is very explosive and he has the mid-range game. Stuckey reminds me a lot of Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose. All said and done, I would take Rondo on the Rockets simply because we have stars, but I would build my team around Stuckey if I had to choose one of the players to start a franchise
Rondo sucks. Make a 15 footer (which he can't do consistently) and pass the ball to Pierce, Garnett and Ray Allen. Hmm, nice work if you can get it.
Sorry for the 2 post - but damn RK24 - are you trying to set a world record for threads started in a day/week/month?
ha, i've also noticed that alot of these poll/ name your top ____ etc etc threads these couple of days were started by the op.
Stuckey has a better future Rondo really needs to work on a jumpshot, but he is an amazing penentrator ,rebounder and passer.
stuckey. 6'5" pg is hard to come especially with a mid range game. if you play him with brooks, he can guard the other team's SG while brooks handles the other PG.
Reality > Fantasy, I thought most people knew that. I have Stuckey in my fantasy team though. However, I am deciding who's better by what I see on my T.V, not on the stat sheet at ESPN or NBA.com
I'd take Stucky. Put Rondo on a mediocre team that has a post player (like Yao) and you'll see why he's not as good.
Rondo is a great finisher, a good passer, one of the best rebounding guards, and is one of the quickest players in the league but he can't shoot (but neither could Parker). Stuckey is huge for a PG, can pass, and score well but isn't great at anything. They both play D. Sure, they're not elite PG's but i like both of them, they do what's needed of them. I'd go with Rondo because if he just improved his shooting he could be a star.
sorry that was my friend being stupid.. i think both are overrated but id say stuckey is better because rondo has the big 3 which is more dominant than the big 3 of the pistons.
For this season I'll take rondo, for the next 5 seasons I'll take Stuckey. Stuckey has the potential to be a superstar, Rondo's ceiling is Tony Parker.
I'd take Stuckey this season and the next five. Rondo only gets attention cause he plays in Boston otherwise no one would care about him. Unless he can miraculously learn how to make a shot more than 5 feet from the basket he won't ever reach Parker's level.
People forget how terrible a jumpshooter Parker was in his first couple of years in the league. Granted I may be a bit biased as a UK student, but I do think Rondo can be the missing piece for a team like the Rockets. His championship experience is hard to come by, and it's especially important for the PG position. But yeah, two players are on completely different talent levels.
I would prefer a PG that consistantly hit an open shot or a freaking tear drop, but since Rafer can't do either I would gladly take Rondo over him.
