I was watching the Rockfest on AMC yesterday and they played all five Rocky movies all day long. I noticed that at the end of Rocky 4 that Rocky's kid is maybe 5 or 6 years old. Then in Rocky 5, he is now a teenager. How could this happen over night?
Rocky V is a scab that needs to be picked and thrown away, in my opinion that movie was never made, NEVER!!
Rock V is not that bad. But yeah the whole series would have been better had it not been for the last Rocky.
Go for it... Go for it... Go for it... Go for it... To be or not to be dope, that is the question are you gonna stop or keep on rushing? higher, faster, quicker than the next man to be the best is the master plan Go on with all you've got, give it your best shot don't ever think about trying to stop keep reaching, pushing, hoping for perfection make up your direction Don't ever stop for a moment, prove you're wanted if you got it, go on, and get up on it go for yours not for a minute, but all the time you better do it 'cause I'm going for mine Go for it... on fire Go go go... I see it in your eyes Go for it... call your fire Go, go... you're got to go for the feeling!
I never saw Rocky 5. Is that the one where he was supposed to die at the end, but they did a rewrite?
I like rocky V better than rocky IV. The only thing I really like about Rocky IV is the training in Russia. The whole setup to finding something bigger for Rocky to go up against was stupid. I even think Rocky V was on par with Rocky III, even though the Mr. T. fight was much more believable. In fact Rocky III had the reverse effect on me. I hated the training session and I sort of liked the fights. Of course nothing can compare to the original Rocky for me, since it was about much more than a fight, but I really liked Rocky II and it was so much better than the final 3 movies.
I love Rocky V for the unintentional comedy. There are some great moments in that film. The movie really starts for me when this quote is dropped, "You knocked him down, why don't you try knocking me down now?"
Yeah Rocky 5 was supposed to end with Rocky's death, but Sly probably didn't want to rule out milking the cash cow one more time as a later date.
Rocky is the best-- Rocky III is my personal favorite. I loved watching Rocky learn from Apollo, and Mr. T plays the perfect villain. Rocky IV is also great. Lots of unintentional comedy with Drago, Rocky gets ridiculously beefed up and tanned, then he somehow outlasts the Russian (not very realistic). And...Rocky V was terrible.
Next time you guys watch Rocky IV pay close attention to the mountains in the background, they look very similar to the Tetons . . . only backwards. It was filmed in Driggs Idaho, on the Idaho side of the Tetons. Sly spared to expense for that one. Still its decent, not like V which was made just for Slys deflating ego
V doesn't compare to the others, but it's still has it's moments. I watched all the movies on AMC last week, and the one scene were I got the biggest chills, was in Rocky V after Tommy Gunn kicks Rocky's ass and they show Mickey, and he says "I didn't hear no bell, one more round.....Mickey loves ya" and then the Rocky theme kicks in, and he beats Tommy Gunn's ass. I would have liked V alot more if it didn't have the Don King lookalike. Anybody else see the commercial where the show all the Rocky's in succession, and then show a ?....like, this wasn't the last one?
My brother and I were talking about Rocky the other day. Our big conclusion: What's the deal with that robot in Rocky IV? Rocky buys Paulie that robot that does all kinds of stuff, and is like an autonomous being. But other than in that movie, that damned thing has never appeared anywhere else -- how come those things aren't around now, and I don't have one cleaning my dishes?
I saw III, IV, and V on AMC but missed I and II. I also noticed the age difference in the kid. V came out in 1990. I think IV was in '84 or '86. It due out in 2005. The story this time around has an aging Rocky Balboa (in his 50s, Stallone) getting in the ring one last time as a fund raiser for the youth center he now runs. Comparisons to George Foreman's comeback have been made. from Countingdown.com "It seems that Stallone has taken inspiration from George Foreman with ROCKY 6. George after getting whupped by Spinks just sort of walked away from boxing and gained weight, took up charity work, but then one day discovered that the money had run out for the charity and himself, and nobody would give him a loan, his friends told him that the ships had sailed. And he just didn’t have anything anymore. He was an overweight, out of shape, middle aged man of questionable diminished fame. George decided to go back to boxing, mainly small club fights, tiny venues, people calling him a joke, but he was winning, and around that 16th fight, people started to take notice, things began to turn around. Well Stallone wants to basically tell that story, the has-been giving it a run story, but he also has in ROCKY 6 a character that he’s heading towards fighting, a new champ, which represents the modern black athlete which is very different from the Apollo Creeds or Alis of yesteryear. That new generation of Athlete with their posses and hanger ons. And what he wants is a DMX or a LL COOL J type to have in there, that has his own reasons for fighting, his own motivations. Not just some icon of evil that he has to defeat, but someone with their own demons and their own reasons to step into that ring." Also according to Dolph Lundgren: "Sly's writing a new Rocky. The 6th one, and tells me he's going to try and write Ivan Drago in it. There's no way I'd miss out on an opportunity on sparring with Balboa again. In my opinion, Rocky IV, was one of the best Rocky sequels. Not the least - the better of my films. If we can get those two guys back in the ring again, we could have something special. And from what Sly tells me, it's going to be good. I look forward to doing it"
