Sylvester Stallone is planning to step back into the ring for "Rocky 6." The Moviehole.com site reports that Stallone has written another sequel to his Oscar-winning 1976 breakthrough film "Rocky." "This one will hopefully bring forward Rocky's more spiritual side. I really love this character, he's a part of me and I'm longing to bring him back. There are guys my age who still box, after all," the site quoted Stallone. "It's brutal, very tough, but I'll do what is necessary to make it real," he said of the physical training required for the role. As for Stallone's other franchise, though, he's adamant there will be no new "Rambo" movie. "Rambo is dead and buried," he said of the one-man army character that featured in three films. "I want it known I'm not going after Bin Laden, or anyone else for that matter."
Crap now I have to burn another DVD. When I bought the set last year I quickly pulled out rockey 5 and burnt it. Sylvester, your time is done, NO ACTING FOR YOU
"The man who stars in the same movie at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his acting career. Chievous Ali
I saw one of the Rocky's, the one with Clubber Lang, on TNT the other day...or at least part of it. Horrible. OS
The first Rocky was one of the greatest movies ever. Rocky IV had some neat fighting scenes, and Rocky beat the evil Russian who used Steroids. All the others deserve to never be spoken of or watched again, including this one . . .
Hell, I actually like some of Sly's later (post-RockyIII) work. He's actually learning how to act. Another Rocky movie... Unless it's really well done, that might destroy the image - the image of a character player who's learning how to act, that is... Notice that he's been trying to get away from the "muscleman/Rambo" typecast the last few movies? He hasn't really had a good movie outside of that role yet (Get Carter doesn't count), but he's had some pretty good performances, so... We'll see, I guess. I think he might actually have a good actor sitting in that brain, it's just taken nearly 20 years to find it. But I have to wonder: How much acting could possibly be involved in another Rocky flick?
Rocky rules. I am pumped. Rocky V was bad, because he never got in the ring. He's apparently fixing that. And Rocky III was possibly the best of them all. Apollo Creed training Rocky in LA? Them racing on the beach? Classic!
The way I look at it is this. The Rocky series should not end with such a crappy movie. So I say go for it, but to fight for a non-profit save the kids group is stupid. They have to come up with a better plot than that. I'd be willing for him to fight Mike Tyson in the movie. At least something that is compelling to watch. That's all I ask.
