    Anyone else watching this?

Man, the performances are awesome. I keep wanting to root for the arrogant guy as he is very talented but his attitude is just annoying.

    i watched some.

the blond dude that looks like the guy from arachnophobia (sp?) and tries to do the billy corgan thing at the mic... well... he sucks. trying way too hard. black toenails? wtf? do they still do that? didn't that stop in 1998 or something?

the chick with the dreads... i'm not sure about other nights, but tonight... she was awful. glad the judges ripped her.

dude with the mohawk... it was ok. no sure that the whole soul thing would work with inxs. kinda cool version on tina's hit though.

the original song by the blond chick was actually pretty good. reminded me of a poor man's courtney love though.

    the others were forgettable, imo.

My wife's favorite show right now and I enjoy it.

Jordis' rendition of the Bowie song some weeks back sent us to MSN to download the track. Shockingly awesome vocal (but yeah...tonight was her weakest).

I really like Marty, but he didn't need to scream that much tonight. If he can sing a couple of good melodies for the band in the next couple weeks, I expect he has the inside track.

JD can got to hell. I don't care how decent his voice is... what a d*ck.

My wife thinks Mig will be one of the last ones. I don't care for his style much, but maybe he's perfect for Inxs because I found most of their songs boring anyway (although I admit that I'm more interested now after I've seen how cool these guys are).

Ty's ok but he would get on my nerves after a while. Deanna sux...can't figure out why they like her so much other than her balloons. Suzie may be gone soon.

    Great show.

Man, I hope Jordis can survive this week's debacle. Up 'til now, it hasn't even been close; she's been head and shoulders above the rest. Too bad INXS, IMO, has no intention of picking a female.

JD's a tool, Deanna and Suzie are just awful, Marty's too one dimensional, Ty shoulda stuck with the show tunes.

    This is Mig's to lose.

And, as I've said before, when this is all over, the backing band should hire Jordis, write some rock songs and become the next big thing. Those guys are the stars of this show.

I have only watched once. I understand the appeal and may watch again, but it is difficult. The guys in INXS are pretty cool. That just makes it worse. I used to like this band since Shabooh Shoobah(sp?). And every INXS album has 1 or 2 really good songs, and almost none of the songs totally suck. Some albums are near 100% with songs that rate above average. They don't have many songs that are totally out of this world, but I liked them quite a bit, and saw them in concert for the Listen Like Theives album

The fact is, though, no matter how nice they are and how good the show is, they are finding a new singer from a reality show, and it is sad that their career has come to this.

Apparently it has actually been good for their career too, which is a little strange.

I like the show. I think Marty and Mig will be the final 2 and Marty will win it.

Is there a place where you can download their songs?

I liked the show for a while. Now, it's just dragging on waaaaaay too long.

I don't know, none of those singers really impresses me. They all seem like they're trying too hard to be "rockers" as Brooke Burke always calls them. If you have to tell everyone that you're a rocker, you're probably not a rocker.

I don't really understand the point in having the singers sing so many different styles of music. How many different styles of music does INXS perform? They should do less covers and more INXS songs. That's obviously their bread and butter...I mean since they are INXS and all...

Man, that Ty dude has some serious vibrato going on with his voice. Sounds like a machine gun when he sings! Like a male version of Belinda Carlisle.

P.S. Why is Dave Navarro on the show?

I've caught a couple of episodes and enjoyed it -- the last show I saw had Ty performing "Kick" I think. Is he still in it?

IMO he's the best ~ I just can't picture a girl singing with Inxs.

Agree with alot of this. Burke constantly calling them "rockers" (and INXS always referring to their band as "our band, INXS"), contestants trying too hard, doing more INXS and the comparison of Ty to Belinda.

I find I'm watching it for the house band. They might be the greatest cover band ever.

And as far as Dave Navarro goes, man, he's killing my image of him. Enjoyed his work with Jane's and RHCP, but after watching him on this show...that guy is a bozo dee-luxe.

Oh man, you're not kidding. That's a great band. Someone posted in the other INXS thread that they were all touring veterans. Several of them have toured with some big names like Cher and Vannessa Carlton among others.

They are the 2nd best House Band I've ever seen. 1st being the Showtime at the Apollo House Band. Now THAT is a smoking band! But I digress... :)

They made the right choice tonight, but Jordesh should have been gone.

I think it comes down to Marty, JD, and Mig....

It's such a curiosity. People so often complain about the Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson's and Backstreet Boys of the world and how they are ruining music, but American Idol and Rockstar are the most popular shows on tv and Kelly Clarkson and Hillary Duff have the top records on the charts.

Where is the originality? Where is the artistry? Where is the songwriting? What happened to developing a great artist and helping them to hone their craft? The music industry is such a joke.

If Peter Gabriel or the Beatles or Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd or virtually any of the great bands in rock history began their careers today, we would have never heard So or Sgt. Pepper's or House of the Holy or Dark Side of the Moon. They would get dropped and buried just like any other interesting or innovative or groundbreaking artist that can't be wedged into a tidy category and mass marketed on Fox or Clear Channel.

    {/rant}

    Enjoy the show! :)

Look who is buying all these "albums" and watching all these shows. It's the 12 year old girls buying them with their allowance money. That seems to be the demo that is spending the most money on CD's so that's who the record companies are going to cater to.

I don't know a whole lot of 12 year old girls who are into Pink Floyd or The Beatles. :D

I read somewhere recently that the reason American Idol was so successful was because it killed most shows in the 18-24 demographic.
