Just heard it on 610 AM: Keith Jones was named the head athletic trainer for Team USA. Along with Shane Battier (who I think is a lock to make the final 12-man roster), it looks like the Rockets will be well represented at the World Championships. That's not even counting the presence of Yao Ming (China) and Vassilis Spanoulis (Greece).

Go Keith. Go Shane. Let's bring the championship back to the good ol' U.S. of A.

Good to see Keith Jones being the head trainer. I met him a couple years ago at a breakfast taco place and he was really nice.

Let's just hope everyone comes back healthy.

I forgot, when does this team USA team begin to play again?

Is it August, September or what?

Anyways, I feel Shane is a lock too.

I feel Shane will make the final roster as well. Coach K is not gonna drop him if he wants to play on the team.

I would love to have seen T-Mac on the USA team so average Americans might actually recognize the talent he really has instead of just following the hyped Kobe and LeBron. However, I understand that because of his back problems it was not possible. Hopefully he will bounce back next year and let em know who's #1. :D

Don't worry about it too much. I hate seeing someone in T-Mac's talent, in my opinion uncomparable..and no that's not when he came to Houston, it was at the end of his last season in Toronto(long story, I'll save it for later), being snubbed.

However, it's the fans that really mean it all. They do vote him every year for a starting position. Players, Coaches, and GMs consider him a premiere threat. Players have ultimate respect for him, so internally that's where it counts, but still you'd like to see the support a little more known.

But let his game do the talking..

That's great! I'm sure he'll keep the whole team in good health, just like he does with the Rockets...

...maybe he's a Serbian sleeper agent!

Kind of ironic that the rockets trainer the most injured team in the league takes those duties but i guess he has got alot of practice ;)

Kudos for Keith. IMO every other Rocket including newly acquired Shane Battier needs to be in the gym, lifting weights and getting ready to prove to the world that last years dismal season was an aboration. We have bigger fish to fry--the third NBA Championship banner hanging from the rafters of the Toyota Center!

Just like you said GM's and coaches respect McGrady. George Karl thinks he is the best swingman in the league because of his versatility and defense. He can shoot better than Lebron and defer to teammates better than kobe. and last year he was voted the Best Small Forward according to GM's(it might have been coaches im not sure.)
