Yea an 0-5 start was the last thing we all wanted, but if you take a look at their upcoming schedule, we should be able to get back in the mix of things in the West. Of the next 26 games, I'd say about 7-9 of them will be challenging which means 18-20 games are games we can and should be able to win. It's crucial for us to get around 18-19 wins before January and finish with around a 19-12 record. Why? Because if you take a look at the January schedule, the first 9 games are against playoff teams. If we can get some confidence before that stretch, we can hope to win at least 4-5 of those games. People need to relax and realize this is an 82 game season. A lot can happen between now and the All-Star break. It's way too early for people to say we need to tank the season or rebuild. The upcoming schedule should give us a nice boost in the standings and give our guys some confidence and build some team chemistry. Hopefully we're back in contention before the trade dead line and Morey is able to bring us a star player that can help us make a run in the playoffs. Nov. 7 Minnesota 7:00 Nov. 10 at Washington 7:00 Nov. 12 at Indiana 7:00 Nov. 14 at New York 7:30 Nov. 16 Chicago 8:30 * Nov. 17 at Oklahoma City 8:00 * Nov. 19 at Toronto 7:00 Nov. 22 Phoenix 8:30 * Nov. 24 Golden State 8:30 Nov. 26 at Charlotte 7:00 Nov. 28 Oklahoma City 7:00 * Nov. 29 at Dallas 8:30 * Dec. 1 Los Angeles 8:30 * Dec. 3 at Memphis 8:00 Dec. 4 at Chicago 8:00 * Dec. 7 Detroit 8:30 Dec. 10 at Milwaukee 8:30 Dec. 11 Cleveland 8:30 (Almost forgot Lebron is gone ) Dec. 14 Sacramento 8:30 Dec. 15 at Oklahoma City 8:00 * Dec. 17 Memphis 8:30 Dec. 19 at Sacramento 6:00 Dec. 20 at Golden State 10:30 Dec. 22 at Los Angeles Clippers 10:30 Dec. 27 Washington 8:30 Dec. 29 Miami 8:30 * Dec. 31 Toronto 7:00
I say most of those games will be challenging. Washington, Indy, and NYK for example are not cake walks you can count as a W for example.
Not cake walks, but games we SHOULD win if we want to consider ourselves a playoff team. Playoff teams that win 50+ games a season win those games and if we want to be one of those 50+ win teams, we have to win those games.
Golden State's as challenging as the Suns, if not more... I expect us to split with the Bulls. Otherwise I agree.
Rockets fans just need to <a href="http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/clutchfans/?action=view¤t=chill_pill.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/notafaker/clutchfans/chill_pill.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
if we can't beat the Pacers, Knicks, or the Wizards, then we don't deserve to make the playoffs plain and simple.
Wrong. If we win enough games to get into the playoffs, then we deserve to make the playoffs. That makes a lot more sense.
We could but i think the main problem is how heatlhy can we get and players like: Shane Battier, Jared Jefferies, 2Pat, Aaron Brooks and Yao/Miller I Believe in Rockets so don't me down :>
every1 bak on the bandwagon! srsly, i think they'll start gettin better now it looked like they got thier mojo back during the spurs game, and this blow-out will help thier confidence, winning changes everything i'm glad the 1st few games where tough, it brought 2 light everything wrong with this team so they could go 2 wrk at gettin them corrected, hope they've turned the corner now n we start seein a win streak go rox, i belieeeeve!
0-5 people here r on panic mode and crapping their pants....NOW 1-5 we r in title contention lol ......we r not out of the woods yet.... win this up coming road trip and ill feel a little better!! feels good to get 1 though
It can be a blessing in disguise. This way we can commit the playing style to engaging a pass first PG. Let's see what is going to happen...
The teams look easy, but MY LORD, look how many away games we have. We should win many of those games, but the team shouldn't take it for granted. There are still tough teams out there like GS for eg.
Sorry, I meant to add, DECEPTIVELY tough teams. Teams that look bad on paper, but are playing better this season. NY is another.
Well as history has shown, crazy things have happened in our favor such as that 22 game win streak a few years ago. I'm not saying we'll come remotely close to that streak, but I do think we'll go on a nice run to close out 2010 and we'll be 6-7 games above .500 before the New Year. Shane Battier is finally showing some flashes of life by hitting a few shots here and there, Yao is starting to get his timing back and most importantly, Jordan Hill is getting minutes. He's the defensive presence we've lacked inside since Mutombo and his finger. Lee's defense is another weapon we need to use more often and I'm sure we will now that Brooks is out 2-3 weeks. Our first 5 games were brutal especially while trying to adjust to Yao's minutes, Lowry's injuries and the lack of court chemistry. Our next big test will be in January and hopefully by then, we'll be more comfortable on the court and players will know their roles and the rotations will be set
I agree that we'll be fine. It would be interesting, though to take a look at the "first month predictions" thread and see if anyone predicted an 0-5 to 2-3 start with a decent end to the month, cause everyone seemed to thing it was an easy month for us, and now everyone seems to be saying that they knew we'd struggle all along!
