I've Just read this article: Houston Chronicle - The Rockets are worried enough about Bobby Sura's recovery from knee surgery that they're hoping to sign a free-agent point guard or two before the start of camp. If Sura can't go, Mike James probably would be the starter. The Rockets can get by with him because so much of the offense goes through Tracy McGrady, but they'd like to have a prototypical point to run the show.. .......I'm thinking if the Rox are sure of targeting Jay Williams even though he's not yet 100%. Why do you want to replace an injured prone PG with a player who also came from an injury? hmmm...Though signing him could be a great gamble...
yay I wanted Jwill now we need to trade for jamal crawford... same age and a solid player. (yeah only if he learns to play defense)
well for jay it was between the heat, rockets, and raptors. the heat took themselves out of the running when they signed GP. toronto wanted jay but babcock said in an article on realGM that jay plans to sign some where else. toronto has also invited 3 other PG's to camp. and now we hear that we are looking to sign another PG....
I think we will sign Jay Williams. I hope so, I really do. I like taking a risk, when the upside is there. That is why there is a premium on volatile stock...same reason...the upside.
I cannot believe you used the "we have a problem" cliche in this thread title. You oughta be strung up for that.
Jay Williams rejects Toronto non-guarenteed offer - will look elsewhere. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Co...744&call_pageid=969907729483&col=970081562040 Maybe he is looking to come here.
Spanoulis is right now getting schooled by Tony Parker in the Semi Final of the European Championships. He has no chance of keeping up with him. And if that's not a bad enough sign, he also shows that his point guard skills aren't NBA ready right now.
i think if the rockets somehow manage to sign up jay williams, i dont think i'll be able to handle it. i might lose it and go nuts. i mean we're already not overpaying for stromile swift, grabbing derek anderson for little to no money, a rookie with a last name of head. i mean i'd be too excited to function.
Here's a fantasy trade idea for ya'. Houston sends Wesley/James/Badiane to Toronto. Toronto sends Rafer Alston/Eric Williams to Houston.
You aren't serious are you? You would send our starting two guard and our backup point guard/two guard for a over dribbling, non-shooting, non-team oriented, no defense point guard who's only qualifications are having been discovered on the courts of NYC by ESPN and for a backup (quality) small forward? Please tell me your aren't serious? And let's stop already with the JWill pleas. The man hasn't shown that his game is even close to NBA ready and even when he was healthy, he struggled with his shot and defense as a rookie. Otherwise... why is he still available?
This is what I was afraid of. Right now, we can't plan on Sura contributing. The only thing we've done in the backcourt is add DA and draft Head. We may be stuck with Mike James being a starter. I've said it a million times already so one more time won't hurt: Our backcourt will sink us this year. It may cost us a higher seed in the playoffs, and during the playoffs, teams will exploit us. Maybe DA and Head will contribute more than expected. Maybe Wesley's surgery will allow him to play better later in the season and in the playoffs (if we don't trade him before then).
Ouch, that would be the best trade that Babcock ever made. Jay Will isn't the answer either for this problem either, CD wants immediate help. Dan Dickau hasn't signed with the Celtics yet, what about the ultimate irony of trading DW for Dickau, would DW pull a JJ and not report.
