The Texans are the most popular team in Houston. However the game threads for the rockets generate more replies and views than Texans thread on all the other forums (texanstalk, official, clutchfans) combined.

Why is there a discrepancy? Does it bode well for the future of the rockets? or is it that the skewed demographics of this board (Mostly Asian) leading to this phenomena?

People enjoy watching football away from a computer more so than basketball. Just taking a wild guess.

Maybe because this is a basketball forum.

After some careful analysis, I've noticed that Texanstalk has more Texans and football posts. Yet Clutchfans has more Rockets and basketball posts.

    Why is that?

    Further study is needed.

Why all the smart-ass replies? Dude is just asking why Clutchfans Rockets game threads have more replies than the Texans game threads on all the popular Texans boards, including the sub-forum here, combined.

It's an interesting observation, probably explained by the longevity of this bbs and the greater amount of posters from overseas, but it's impressive nonetheless. I've noticed there aren't many NBA fan forums with close to as many posts in their game threads as here, either.

i think age is a factor..it seems the average age for posters on clutchfans is around 16 and the average age for the texans forums is around 20...thus more well thought out posts on texans forums then on clutchfans.. which leads to less posts needed to get your point aross..also basketball is more accessible to youths than football is..takes less players to play and is cheaper to go watch live..

    just my 2 cents..

A lot more international fans interested in basketball over football too. Not only Houston people posting on this site.

In the rockets threads, people are basically doing PBP.

Also. We don't have to sit on a PC to stream a game in order to see it with the Texans.

    **** CSN.

    1. it could because basketball has more plays, so in the rockets game thread, people post more WOW! or one-liners during rockets games.

    2. Also people in here are from around the world, and a lot of those only care about the rockets. and no for the texans or football in general.

    3. Also they are more people in the stadium in texans games than rockets games, (mainly because the reason no. 2 above).

    1) International brand - basketball carries more globally (especially with the Rockets' Yao Ming/Jeremy Lin eras).
    2) Age of franchises - the Rockets' glory years with Hakeem and the 2 championships happened during a time when most of the posters here were in their formative years. The Texans have been around for a decade, and just now would the kids during the inaugural season be entering their "let's post a bunch on the internet about my favorite team" years. There's also those who remained loyal to the Titans and/or Vince Young. If the Texans stay competitive for the next 3-5 years, then look for more posters on those topics as they win not only the hearts of those who found other teams, but also the young'ns.
    3) Football v basketball - basketball can be less of an "event" than football games. Football happens once a week, and usually people are at viewing parties or the like. Less likely to happen with basketball except key games, and this allows people to stay near computers while watching the game.
