hey this is my 1st post so im the newbie around here i guess lol. Well Rockets .vs. Spurs is coming up and honestly its gonna be the closest spurs vs rockets game since hakeem was still good! i am really lookin forwrd to some of the matchups like Eddie and Duncan, Steve and Parker. what do yall think about it? And do you think Boki will actually play more than 6 minutes?! gosh i gotta admit that mad me mad lol but rudys still a good coach.
welcome newbie ! i'm looking forward to the spurs v rockets 10/23 in san antonio. chances are ming will be in that game, and it's definite that i'll be in attendance! btw, don't ever mention franchise v "jesus" parker as a "matchup to watch" ever again. jesus may have risen from the dead, but i'll bet stevie can put 35 on his head!
Parker hang with Steve? Parker's going to have the migraines... Duncan may get his, but who else is going be that much better (or even as good) as what we can throw at them. I think these two games may be tell tale of how much better the Rockets are. Ginobilli smeely. Were going to kick some ass...
Look at this: Spurs: Erick Barkley Mengke Bateer Bruce Bowen Devin Brown Duane Causwell Speedy Claxton Tim Duncan Danny Ferry Emanuel Ginobili Stephen Jackson Steve Kerr Mikki Moore Tony Parker David Robinson Malik Rose Steve Smith Joe White Kevin Willis Rockets: Steve Cat Yao Ming MT Rice Moochie Torres KT Cato EG TMo Tito Boki Mickeal Collier Which line up would you rather have? I think we can pass these guys if we can just find the chemistry and gel in a short time...
The only thing we'll be able to tell by is box scores and AP stories, cause this morning I read that this game won't be televised.
its not telivised?!?!?! that really sucks! it wont be on channel 51 or anything i would think it would be on cause its the clutchcity classic i dunno though i could be wrong
According to Rockets.com, the game will be on channel 51. Hopefully League Pass will be working by then.
Thanx ZRB, I was just going by what I saw in the Chronicle. When I saw it wasn't being televised I thought to myself, WTF does 51 have to show that's better the my Rox!?
Lets look at these matchups Robinson v. Yao - edge Robinson (at first at least) Duncan v. Griffin - edge Duncan (not close) Ginoboli v. Thomas - even Smith v. Mobley - edge Mobley Parker v. Francis - edge Francis Bateer/Willis v. Cato - edge Bateer Willis Rose v. Taylor - even Bowen v. Nachbar - edge Bowen (at first at least) Kerr v. Maddox - edge Kerr Claxton v. Moochie - even If it werent for Duncan, Id say we match up evenly against the Spurs. But there is such a big mismatch there, until we find a big man that can stop Duncah, Spurs have the edge. =)
Robinson v. Yao - Yao Ming's height advantage / athleticism makes this - even Duncan v. MT- edge Duncan (Griffin isn't the starter) Ginoboli v. Rice - Rice Smith v. Mobley - edge Mobley Parker v. Francis - edge Francis (not close) Bateer/Willis v. Cato - even or slightly Cato at this point - 1/2 Cato Rose v. EG - even Bowen v. TMo- even Kerr v. Torres - maybe Torres (different styles) - 1/2 Torres Claxton v. Moochie - Moochie (not close) That's 6-1 Rockets with 3 evens. take into consideration the Spurs may have better chemistry and these teams are not that far apart. Should be interesting...
This is the kind of game that I really wanted to see Yao Ming play in. Not because of guys like Duncan, but because of guys like Tony Parker. As I recall, in the past Parker had his way with our defense because he was so lightening fast Steve/Moochie/anyone couldn't stop him from penetrating, and we had no good erasers inside to stop him from having his way in the paint once he got there. Yao could have a huge effect on this kind of penetration, I believe, and I wish he would be here for that game so that we could see how much of a factor he would be. Oh well, I guess I just continue to wait like everyone else.
According to iN Demand, that date (Oct. 15th) is the day they begin broadcasting preseason games. If this game is not on League Pass, I'm going to have some very naughty words for them in an email.
Yao coming in as an unproven rookie is already better than Robinson? Im not thinking so. Griffin is the starter. He started 3/4 of last season and with Mo suspended the first 5 games and coming off an injury means Griffin will be the starter for at least the first 5 games. Come game #6, Mo will not be handed the starting spot. In fact, I can guarantee you that he will have to flat out out play Griffin over a period of games to get his starting spot back. I dont see it happening. Id rather have Willis discipline/toughness/attitude when hes 50 years old than Cato. The Spurs won over 60 games last year and have consistently beat Houston since the start of the Duncan area. They have essentially the same team they did last year while the Rockets have added two rookies that have never played a pro game in the US. These teams are 32 wins apart based on last season's records. Id say thats pretty far apart. Not that Im a Spurs fan or anything. EGAD! @=^P
Is Yao really going to play in this game? His last Asian game is the 14th, I don't know if he's going to immediately jump on a plane and play the next day for a team he's had no practice with. That might be asking a bit much of the rookie. It might be better if he played the 17th or even the 18th...give the poor guy some rest.
I agree. In fact, I dont think hell play until the 2nd San Antonio game. That gives him 9 days to get his stuff together.
