Rockets vs. Sonics should be very interesting this year

In years past, the Rockets and Sonics have had a fairly strong rivalry, and it looks like this year should be no different.

First, they're fairly comparable talent wise. They could both be fighting for the same seeding in the playoffs.

Second, you've got the whole Rashard Lewis thing.

Third, Baker should have something to prove when matched up against Mo Taylor.

Lastly and most interesting IMO, you've got the two veteran warriors in the middle in Ewing and our own incomparable Hakeem Olajuwan! I would soooo love to see Hakeem go out on top. That goes for when he battles the old Admiral as well.

What do you all think? Are we better?

the rockets are not in seattles league. they are a lock for the playoffs, maybe as high as 5 if things click.

however seattle may have sacrificed any future they had with that deal. they have to get a good FA next summer (assuming they dump ewing) or else they are in trouble. even so, they lose ewing and might not get anyone at all.

At center it is even between us and Seattle. At power forward it's also about even. We have the advantage at shooting guard fairly big, and they have the advantage at small forward and point guard. (although the PG advantage won't be very big) We also are deeper than they are, and have better coaching. I think we're definitely in their league.

That's how many of us feel about the Rockets if everything clicks. (although more realistically 6 or 7 if things click, nothing's out of the question) The Sonics are not out of our league. Not at all.

Nuggets are for sure out of the sonics league but not the rockets. I agree with what Cat said.

Nugz fan gets the "most classiest poster" of the year award. I love how he puts things.

Yep, Seattle should win it all now that they added a 38 year-old center. I'm one of the few people on this board that thinks Seattle may not have gotten better in this trade. I think I will be proven right in the long run.

Whoops, bad grammar. "Classiest poster" not "most classiest poster."

Sonics have not added much with Ewing, even if he can stay healthy.

Lewis is good, but still grossly inexperienced. Baker is still a fat wuss. Barry is okay at offense and that's it.

And who are the sonics back up post players?

Sonics are not a "lock" for the playoffs.

Neither are the Rockets, But they have just about as good as a chance as the Sonics.

But the Nuggets should have a pretty good season this year. Maybe they'll even end up with the number one pick next year!

you guys are so damn insecure. what the hell did i say cept an opinion shared by all non rocket fans? you guys are so damn high on your team, that you cant take anything that resembles criticism.

i didnt even criticise hardly. i said you guys werent in their league. thats not an insult.

and of course, the comebacks are 'the nuggets suck' and stuff of that sort.

you guys put your team on a podium, as if they are better than everyone else and if all the intagables only factor into your future success, while looking at the negatives of every other team, to further your rocket dreams. whatever it takes.

gr8-1; thats not what i said. they were better than you guys last year and added a decent center. they are better than you still. is that a rocket insult? my gawd, what if i said the lakers are better?

francis/crisokidd; those were just weak. nice try though.

and if you guys havent noticed, i dont give a rats ass about the sonics and i hope they suck. why the hell would i care if they did well. i hope this backfires, i hope ewing gets hurt, i hope they get no FAs next summer. think about it. i gave an honest, fair, and unbiased assessment comparing the two teams. if my name was 'rocksfan' you guys would have read that differently. im just saying, that the sonics could be damn good, while you guys are a few years away to getting there (this is the west remember??). yeah you could get the 7/8 seed but the sonics will most likely be higher. is that impossible to accept?

Cant we all just get along?

    Nugzfan,

I may be the only one, but I appreciate your unbiased views on our beloved Rockets. Anyone ever hear the phrase, Love is Blind?

Nugzfan is just so damn insecure. what the hell did i say cept that the Nuggs are bad? They are. Nugzfan is so damn low on his team, that he has to visit other teams boards and can't take anything that resembles criticism.

i didnt even criticise hardly. i said the Nuggets might win the lottery. thats not an insult.

and of course, the comebacks are 'weak' and stuff of that sort.

Nugzfan puts his team on a podium, as if they are better than everyone else and if all the intagables only factor into his future success, while looking at the negatives of every other team, to further his buttnugget dreams. whatever it takes.

gr8-1; of course you were right. The Sonics did not come out that good in the trade.

francis/crisokidd; true, Nuggets are a fringe team in the league.

and if you guys havent noticed, i dont give a rats ass about the nuggets and i hope they suck. why the hell would i care if they did well. i hope this backfires, i hope mcdyess gets hurt, i hope they get no FAs next summer. think about it. i gave an honest, fair, and unbiased assessment of the nuggets. if my name was 'Mcdyess Licker' you would have read that differently. im just saying, that the nuggets could be damn good after getting that number one, while the rockets could make the playoffs this year. yeah you could get the 2nd or third pick but most likely it'll be higher. is that impossible to accept?

Mo + improvement to young stars Francis and Mobley > old Ewing

The Rockets improved more than the Sonics this summer and weren't that far behind them to begin with. The Rockets are definitely in the Sonics' league!

The Sonics will cream us! They've got Rashard Lewis! He's the greatest thing since Jesus, and if not Jesus, at least sliced bread!

Some of y'all need to quit making resumes for Lewis and see if he can make one on his own. He really hasn't done crap yet in the NBA.

But I agree the Sonics are better than last year. I jost hope Stevie Franchise b**** slaps Payton up and down the court again [IMG]

Don't anybody ever suggest again that we sign Tracy Murray to a deal.
