I'll be attending the game tonight at OSU, so I'll probably be able to offer my insight on Rockets' players tomorrow to anyone who is interested in a biased, non-Rockets perspective.

I know it's been an extremely disappointing day because of Marc Jackson, and I know we were only playing a pre-season game with the Blazers but I'm still glad we won 81-77.

Well, I guess it was on TV because I could see Calvin Murphy from a mile a way so most of you probably watched it. Kenny Thomas was pretty impressive, and Torres and Morris could turn into nice players. Collier wasn't very impressive to me - he really doesn't seem to move all that well. I may post more tomorrow but I'm a little preoccupied right now. ;)
Sorry about not getting Jackson, that kind of sucks for you guys since everyone thought you had him... :(

The Rockets are starting to look like the Trailblazers of a couple of years ago. You start to wonder how one team can have so many good young players with the salary cap. jackson of course would have been almost too good to be true.

Kenny Thomas was great. He rebounded well. Is still strong enough to box them out. When he is on offense only Wallace could keep up with him, but he doesn't want to bang with Kenny. Of course, Kemp, Davis and Especially Wallace can still shoot over him, though he gets in excellent position. and causes them problems at time. Kenny is showimg more offensive skills, almost small forward like. He is still improving.

Torres is our best defensive guard. Very fast and can shoot well, although he may be a bit of a streak shooter. He even kept up with Damon Stodamire a few times when he got switched on him. If we can get enough rebunding he would be devastating on the break with Steve and Cuttino. Looks like a rotation player.

Morris was also impressive. Looks like a steal. Jumps well. Runs well. shoots better than we were led to believe. Can bring the ball up a bit. Good defensively.

Cato was surprisingly steady. Not spectacular, but not goofy like he has been. I think Worrel said 10 rebounds. Doesn't look like he's getting as many blcoks, but maybe he is trying to play a more all around game, stay on the ground go for fakes less.

Moochie and Steve and Rice. played like steady veterans doing their thing.

Langhi. Odd man out. Maybe he should go to Europe. In a couple of years of developing he might turn out to be a Matt Bullard if he can toughen up mentally.

Collier looked pretty tough to me in the center. He is back to his peak of last year and is stronger, though not that mobile.

The second unit of Griffin, Torres, TMO and Moochie will create havoc on defense and will run like crazy.

Thanks for the recap glynch. I agree Langhi is looking like the odd man out.

thanks roxran, I was just about to post that after Jeff's season analysis on the main board, which I just read I would have just said I agree with everything he said and not even have posted.

Must confess I always go to bbs first and only every now and then the front page. Caught me!

I see it as no meaningful objective for Langhi to try and be like Bullard. Bullard was not all that; in fact he is and was a very limited player. Langhi has endless more skills and will become a much more valuable player than Bullard ever was.
