Just a quick update on two of the guys most of you care about: Luther Head is going to be a very good player for us. He's athletic , can shoot and can definitely handle both guard positions. The fans here are really going to love him. All the people who loved Mobley will probably end up liking him better because he's not as selfish but definitely as talented. Unfortunately, Badiane is a major throater at this point. He's athletic but seems completely lost and at least a few seasons away from even thinking about competing in the NBA. He has no offensive game whatsoever and is not the defensive forse people are hoping for him to be (at least not now). There is no way he sticks on this team this year. Some dude named Corey Viollette (sp.....if anyone knows who he is because i sure as hell don't) threw down a nasty dunk over two people. He looked pretty good out there to.
Thanks for the update Sucks about Badiane though. I really don't care if he has no offensive game. His job is on the defensive side. If he sucks there, then I'm running out of hope on him
Thanks for the update. No surprise on Badiane. I am not holding my breath on him. I have high hopes for Luther though and good to see he is looking good so far. Any update on Chuck Hayes and Dion Glover?
Thanks for the update. Sucks about Badiane. I'm thinking that CD just says eveyone is good, as to not get on anyones bad side. I just remember hearing CD say how much Badiane had imporved and how there was an outside shot of making the Rockets Roster. A couple of years away for Badiane.... Well, then is Spanoulis also a couple of years away? He didn't even come to the Summer games. Or was Spanoulis so set on the long term deal that the Rockets didn't bite; and so Spanoulis is signing long term with a European club. (by the way, how long do the Rockets hold Spanoulis rights?)
Head is going to be good. The Rockets knew exactly what they were doing when they picked him. Even though we already knew he was athletic and could shoot it's still suprising. Hopefully we dump Wesley and Sura because he's a better player then both already at this point. Badiane is just too far awar (if ever) to even keep worrying about the guy. I mean, people have bad days and so on and so forth but it certainly didn't seem like he was anything close to an NBA player. I paid no attention to Hayes or Glover really.
I think Spanoloulis's situation has a lot to do with Luther head. He aleady have a crowded backcourt (until we make some moves) and I would be absolutely shocked if vassily could take minutes from Head. In closing, the Rockets got great Head at the end of the first round. CD must have been very happy
When I posted updates earlier about workouts I said that I couldn't answer anything like this. That's why I had to stop posting about workouts before. I just figured that sincethe Badiane craze was a little out of control I'd put some truth to the type of player he is at this point. I also figured I'd give everyone a really positive update on our first rounder because he's playing so well. Other then that i don't really want to go into any other details. I'm sure you can respect why.
Head is playing well where? I didnt think the Minnesota summer league started until the 15th? am i imagining this?
Thanks for tossing us this nugget, Kas, it helps the offseason go by quicker. I hope you're right about Head, can't wait to see him play. The Badiane news is disappointing but not unexpected. He's still only just learning the game. Maybe someday.
Great to hear the news on Head. Hopefully, the Rockets can clear the glut in their backcourt so Head can be the primary backup at one of the guard spots.
No problem. Many players workout and play (including current Rockets and especially the FA's and rookies) during the offseason. When the summer league starts that's when they will all head up there.
what will really help the offseason go by faster will be the regular summer league updates and photos by some BBS posters who go there every year
Thanks for the Update. It's nice that Head looks to be doing so well. The Rockets need so much athleticism in the back court it is not even funny. Barry is slow but smart, Sura is on his last legs, Wesley just disappeared for the end of last season, and James is just a spark plug. Ward and Moochie I won't even bring up.
