what is the deal with the tv situation? I've been out of Houston and don't know. Are they fighting with FSSW again? And I swear to God I'm dropping Directv if they don't put KNWS on their package.
Most of the remaining games are on KNWS. A handful will be on KHWB 39, and a small number are already set for FSSW. The full schedule is available at rockets.com It is highly unlikely KNWS will be showing up on DirecTV in the short term. If that's enough to make you go back to cable, send them feedback telling them that is the reason.
I sent Directv 5 emails last week and got the same form email back each time. They obviously only care about things colored green. F em' I'm going to Dish Network if they get KNWS. I just read an old David Barron article saying this could happen.
KNWS could show up on DISH, but I wouldn't bet on that happening. If you want to ensure reception of 51 through a source other than OTA, cable is your only choice right now. Incidentally, I have covered this in detail in previous posts (use the search), but KNWS created this problem themselves. The station had a deadline (for DBS "must carry"), and they did not meet it.
I wish I knew. If I were the Rocks, I would want to get the best deal, obviously. Also, I'd want a way to reach a wide audience. Would the Rocks consider signing a deal with the the big 4 in town, abc, nbc, cbs, or fox? FSSW probably noticed that despite the improvement, people still fail to watch the Rocks, even with the added attraction of Ming. So I guess they are trying to capitalize by getting a long term deal now and pointing to the lack of viewers, though they know the potential is there for increased interest. I'm just speculating, somebody out there probably knows this whole situation and could tell us what is really going on.
Guys, It is all about the Rocks being greedy. They COULD have worked this out, but have chosen not to due to Yao Ming's arrival. DaDakota
You don't know the facts. It isn't about the money with FSSW. In fact, I even read in Baron's column that the money has been worked out for quite some time now.
Mrs JB, It is not about the money? You are joking right? It is about the length of the contract. Fox wants to look them up for longer then the Rocks are willing to go for at this point. The Rocks are betting that when they get into the new arena and Yao Ming develops, they will be able to command more money. It is ALWAYS about the money. DaDakota
I am NOT siding with the Rockets on this issue but... They lost out on a ton of money during their championship years. They played in one of the smallest buildings in the NBA (and still do). They had no Luxury boxes and only 14,800 seats. With salaries escalating the way they are, the Rockets should try to capitalize on their rise back to the top of the NBA. If that includes controlling the length of their contract with FoxSW, so be it.
