EDIT: Changed title since they are talking trade with teams in that range - 10-18.

In preparation for the draft, since everything happens so quickly, teams have NUMERSOUS deals lined up if certain things happen.

I imagine Stone has a list of roughly acceptable deals to jump all over the place in the draft.

This is likely just one of those scenarios.

Man, I would pay legit money to be in a draft room. Probably one of the most exhilarating experiences you could have as a fan.

Leap frog one team... Seems odd. Gotta believe the ultimate goal is not to pick at 18 either.

@larsv8 nailed it on the head

Could be to go after a specific player or maybe to test their interest in our assets in case Scoot drops to 3 and Heat make a push for Dame, we already understand some of their needs/interests

It is taken from Iko s draft notebook today:

One interesting wrinkle to Houston’s interest is the prospect of moving up from the No. 20 pick. Again, conversations up to this point are mainly conceptual, but there have been discussions about potentially moving up from 20 to a range anywhere from the Miami Heat at No. 18 to the Dallas Mavericks at No. 10, sources say. Some iterations have involved the Rockets adding draft compensation while others have involved their own players or the idea of taking on bad salary

This is what I wanted to hear, and it's exactly the kind of deals they should be pursuing. Consolidation should be the name of the game.

Yup. I’d much rather them use Tate and KJM to move up rather than acquire future draft capital (assuming they are traded). Quality over quantity at this point.

#4 + #10 or #4 + #18 is more valuable than #4 + #20 especially if you trying to bring in an all star level player or move up to #2 or #3.

Or even if you're trying to rebuild. If you're Portland, and you're not overflowing with young players like we are, #4 and #10 in a good draft class is very tempting if you're convinced Dame is going to demand a trade. Suddenly, between Sharpe and those two picks, you have a chance to have a one year tank and already have everything you need after that.
