The Rockets will host six players for a pre-draft workout on Friday.

The six players include center Brian Davis from Texas A&M, guard Demetri McCamey from Illinois, guard Manny Harris from Michigan, forward Latavious Williams from Tulsa of the NBA Development League, forward Jajuan Johnson from Purdue and guard Kelvin Lewis from the University of Houston.

Awesome, they're all underrated prospects and I really like Latavious Williams. He surprised the nation a bit by going straight to the D-League and he has a lot of upside especially athletically, cue the Malick Badiane jokes.

I want them to take a good look at Terrico White and Lance Stephenson, as a possible replacement for Jermaine Taylor if his including in a trade...

Same with me. I'm sick of them.

As far as the thread goes, I hope we bring in Kelvin Lewis. He's got a lot of potential and plus he's from UH

I know the NCAA doesn't want to hear this but I'm of the firm belief that if a basketball player's only intention in getting a scholarship to a prestigious school is get some national exposure and quit after the 1st or 2nd year, they should opt to go straight to the D-league instead and be scouted while playing in a development system that helps them better prepare for NBA style basketball. It's a waste of a scholarship - that should go to someone intending on completing their 4-year degree and getting an education - to offer it to a prospective NBA draftee when they really just need the exposure and real-world experience.

Not only this, they don't have to worry about losing their eligibility, etc. and don't have to face the shame of being paid if they opt to go straight to D-league. The D-league would then also be a growing talent pool from which to pluck highly sought after players who have at least a year of experience under their belt.

John Wall comes to mind. I know that schools and the NCAA don't want to miss out on the money that top recruits bring in ticket sales, etc., but it should be established that their role in school is to complete the 4-year degree, get the education and then declare for the draft, if school is indeed their choice. Otherwise, let them go to D-league and build their resume that way.

IDK, maybe the D-league will need to change it's structure to accomodate an influx of talent but it seems like a great place for young raw talent to get started after high school, kind of like the Nationwide Tour. Why not get paid while you're working on your resume?

I know, cool story bro

Williams played for the Thunder's D league team and did well in the championship game. Since he played for them, he knows the system, I will bet that the Thunder will try draft him with their many draft choices. He'll most likely be in the 2nd round.

This day's workout was not seriously for players, it was mainly for the staff to get back into their tryout mode! :p

JaJaun Johnson is considered a fairly elite prospect. I wouldn't be surprised to see him late first/early second. He was considered Purdue's second best prospect behind Robby Hummel.

I am a huge Illini Fan and McCamey drives me nuts. He is always butting heads with Bruce Weber and his decision making is really scary at times. No thanks. If Illinois had another PG I wish somebody would take him so I don't have to watch him in the blue and orange.

Whenever I see Harris, I think Mike Harris, and I was like "I thought we signed him, why are we working him out more?"

    I'm r****ded.
