Fox 26 just reported that Mo Taylor has given a verbal commitment to the Rockets to re-sign. No terms released of course. Pretty much knew this was coming.

Thanks a whole lot Diehard Rocket! This is truly great news. I've always supported Mo, and I'm excited to be able to see him in a Rockets uniform for years to come. But isn't 8 million a year a little much? Well, I shouldn't worry. The Rockets have the best management anyone could desire. Thanks again!

Good to hear. 8 million does sound a little pricey, but at least it's not the max. With Dream out of the picture, there isn't such a blatant need to hoard cap space and I'm sure the guy's being rewarded some for being so patient. I'm not going to complain about overpaying a little when I think we might possibly have had Dream if we'd offered a couple more million, but that's been beaten to death.

8 million a year. a bit high dont ya think. I am all good with 6, but 8 is high.

i suppose he will be starting at 6 and climb to 10 over the next 6 years.

Wow! I'm glad Mo's in but the money is a bit of a surprise. At least with Mo there's a chance that near the end of the contract it'll seem a bargain. He's not going to go Cato on the Rockets.

Wonder how Mobley feels about those numbers. Hopefully it won't start any bitter anti-chemistry feelings.

By the way, wasn't Falk the most hated agent before. Thanks to Fegan, Falk looks like a pushover now. Or at least a reasonable man.

Six yrs for $48m is a starting salary of $6m at 12.5% raises.

This is LESS THAN AUSTIN CROSHERE!!!!

$6m base year is pretty perfect in my book.

    Guys,

6 years and 48 million really isn't that much these days, esp. considering it's just starting at a little over 6 mil the next two seasons, the only time we could possibly have cap space. After that, we will be over the cap anyway, with Francis and Eddie's extensions, and the new CBA should have a much higher cap, if I understand correctly.

Not according to ZRB and Freak. Anyway, this is great news. Now, let's get Marc Jackson or McCoy--anyone who can play center that's not hurt (Collier) or has a pulse (Cato).

    It is Six million.

    You are ignoring standard raises.

It seems a little high, but we have him locked up for his prime years. Its good news to me.

Maybe BahDakota can explain how Griffin will play the 4 with Taylor locked up untill 2008.

    VOR,

    You said "a bit high."

I don't agree. His cap hit is only $6m, and the cap is increasing faster than his salaries (so far).

Why is $6m a bit high???

    It is perfect.

This clears things up imo, assuming that the numbers given were set in stone by Falk, or he at least gave the Rockets a range as to what it would take to retain Mo's services ie: 45-50 million. IMO, this explains why the Rockets were so steadfast in regards to what they would offer Hakeem.

Consequentially, you can now bring back Shandon, a player I think they believe will be valuable given the new rules, at a bargain basement price.

$6 million for next year is right around what I figured it would be. It still leaves plenty of money to re-sign Mooch, Bullard, maybe Los or Shandon, and likely a FA center.
