    From the AP wire:

A Houston television station reports the Houston Rockets have agreed to terms with two draft picks from the June NBA draft.

KRIV-TV said Houston has reached an agreement with first-round choice Jason Collier of Georgia Tech and second-round pick Dan Langhi of Vanderbilt.

The station says Collier, a 7-0 forward/center, agreed to a three-year deal with an option for a fourth. The amount was not disclosed.

Langhi, a 6-11 forward and last year's Southeastern Conference player of the year, made a verbal agreement for one year with an option for another. Houston traded ninth pick Joe Przybilla to Milwaukee for Collier, the 15th pick, and a future first-rounder on draft day.

The Rockets got Langhi in another draft-day deal that sent Eduardo Najera and a future second-round pick to Dallas.

One note not mentioned in the article:

Collier's deal is a slotted deal worth around $900,000 based on his draft position. Langhi signed a one-year deal with an option on a second. His deal is guaranteed for his first year meaning his is guaranteed a roster spot, an unusual move for a second-round pick.

Rudy definitely has a "feeling" on Langhi. Let's hope it's right...

I have a feeling Langhi is going to tear it up next year.

Ya gotta trust Rudy's "special feelings" any day of the week. I'd go to Vegas with him in a heartbeat. The man is a visionary.

Yea Rudy better see something in this Kid. Because noone gives guaranteed contracts to 2nd round draft picks. But I also suspect after watching the free agency frenzy happenning this summer, with bench players like John Amaechi being offered 20 million bucks, Rudy is just hedging his bet a little. Yes by offering Dan Langhi a guaranteed contract he also gets an option to resign him next year. And if Langhi turns out to be the real deal then we don't have to repeat this Cuttino free agent bullcrap with him next summer. Smart business move Rudy!

OMR-Langhi only has a contract for 2 years. Mobley's contract was likely non guaranteed, with a team option for year 2 (like most 2nd rounders), so if Langhi becomes highly sought after, it'll be the same business.

Now that Collier and Langhi have verbaly agreed to deals and if they sign a contract with us, can we still trade them to someone this year or do we have to wait 6 months or something if Rudy wants to use them in a trade for someone? I am not advocating to trade them I just would like to know.

They cannot be traded like other players once they are signed. If the Rockets had wanted to move them, they would've kept them unsigned and just traded their rights to the players.

If we trade away Cato for a roleplayer that's not a center upgrade, I'll be dissapointed, as our defense would now be completely gutted. And Bob, what would we be paying Croshere in that scenario? 8 million?

It may just be me, but I wouldn't trade Cato for Croshere on this team straight up, because our defense is that awful.

Who else is getting the feeling that our lineup is already set for the season? I think that, reagrdless of public oppinion, Rudy is happy with his draft picks. I also think that, while he likes Croshere, he doesn't feel like he's worth what he'll require if a sign-trade is needed. I personally am starting to get excited about next years team. I know they won't win the division or anything, but damn they'll be fun to watch. I think next year is the year for the big offseason. Rudy will have an adequate amount of time to evaluate what he has. We'll have plenty of cap space, and we should have a few draft picks. The only deal that I see happening will involve Drew and maybe some of the trade exception. I just don't see anyone taking Walt off our hands, and who knows, maybe he'll kill this year.

Nike, Croshere plays better D in his sleep than Cato does when he's awake [IMG]
I do think the chances of us getting Croshere are not very good. Cato showed promise last year during exhibition games only to flop during the season. Oh sure he blocked Shaq a couple of times on national TV, but he showed little or no intensity for most of the season. He does not block out, or rebound very good for a man as athletic as he is. How many assists did he have? His offense just plain sucks. Croshere for Cato straight up? The Rockets would have made one of their best trades ever IMHO.

I think we should wait until some point next season to evaluate Cato. He's been working hard in the offseason and I truly think that he will be a changed person. Plus he did say he was outta shape, and that could be the reason that he couldnt rebound as well and everything. Knowing that he wouldnt get more than 10 minutes a game in portland, Cato didnt work hard in the offseason. Now he's in much better physical condition, and his offensive game should be coming along well too.

I definatley would not trade Cato for Croshere straight up. We have no center if Cato is traded. And Hakeem will only be around for 1 year and will prolly be injured for half of it. Like someone said, athletic 6'11 guys that can jump thru the roof arent very easy to find. Cato has all the potential in the world due to his athletecism, even though he might have been outta shape last season. Can you imagine him next year, and with a more refined game also?

I agree with what Rocketsauce said. Our team is set for next year. Rudy sees something in Langhi, and I agree with him. I think Langhi will be a good contributor next year. He had a killer workout with the Rockets, and Rudy saw the potential that Langhi had. And Collier wasnt a bad selection either. WE played well at the end of last season and with the addition of Langhi and Collier, we'll be even better.

They now can't be traded until December 15.

That rules out that rumored Collier for Croshere sign and trade.

Davo, if the numbers on your page aren't right already, do it now before you forget: Collier in a rookie contract starting at $1,190,400 and Langhi starting at the minimum.

"Collier's deal is a slotted deal worth around $900,000 based on his draft position. Langhi signed a one-year deal with an option on a second. His deal is guaranteed for his first year meaning his is guaranteed a roster spot, an unusual move for a second-round pick."

Why the guarantee? Have we not learned anything from the Drew, Malone & Cato deals? I have confidence in RT & CD but, this doesn't make sense to me.

OT, don't worry about Langhi's guaranteed year. He's guaranteed for the upcoming season, in which we are grossly capped out anyway. The Rockets don't lose anything by making this promise to him. Alexander may waste a little more money is all, and he can afford it.

Least we all forget, the Rocks gave up two second round picks for Langhi, so they must have been real serious about having a roster spot for him. The Rock's second round pick next year should yeild a player better than Collier.

Dan is probably worth the risk. I read allot of pre-daft media that felt this guy should go in the 20-30 range of the draft.

The Rockets wanted this guy bad & knew they would deal to get him.

Bullard to the booth, he had a good career & ring to show for it!
