That's what teammates say to Nene in the shower. 4 years is fine when it's just $3.5M per year. $3.5M is nothing. I'd pay him $3.5M just to have an actual NBA player who looks like Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf at the Big3 Tournament.
Who cares if it's 4 years...it's probably not fully guaranteed and he can still retire in 2/3 years...the most important thing is that it's a very cheap contract per year
How are you guys complaining about length? He is literally paying a top tier backup center under 4 million dollars a year . This is an incredible deal .
We were limited in money we could give him on a one year deal without using MLE money, so we had to stretch it out over a few years. We saw his value when it mattered, may hurt a little in a few years, but we are worried about now.
that works for me. he'll probably be a rotation player for 1 more year, then be a high priced assistant coach. he's worth that money just for the locker room impact. glad we still have our BAE and MLE
Probably turns to be non-guaranteed after the 2nd year. So really 2 years/7.5M. Won't be surprised if its frontloaded (annual salary decreases every season), with multiple options to make the contract partially or non-guaranteed after this first season. Either way. DADDY IS HOME!! Edit: Nevermind them. No outs, at all. Pretty strange deal though but Nene's game has aged well and under 4M/year for a quality back up center is a great deal! He basically kept us in / won us a game versus OKC and I think if he was healthy for the Spurs' series, we would have taken care of business.
This is good news, can't help but imagine what the Rockets would have ended up doing if he didn't try to dunk that game. He was so crucial in the playoffs.
