Graham Waived / Davis & Lucas III Signed

i didn't think graham would be waived, especially since we haven't got any of our guards back yet

I can understand the move in the sense that Graham really was not a factor offensively shooting the ball. He didnt seem too confident when he got the minutes the other night against Utah. We'll see if this new guy can bring anything to the team

I wonder if Graham felt it was all worth it to even sign just to be released a short time later? The guy didn't really have much of a chance.

I think these guys will take a shot at the big leagues anyway they can, even if it's a short stint

John Lucas III is not your "traditional point guard", he has averaged only 3 apg in the NBDL this year so far and only 4 last year at OK State. I think they may have brought him in for his quickness after seeing Chris Paul kill Luther Head last night.

Rockets probably signed Lucas after the saw him drop 30 yesterday on Austin Toros. He had 30 points, 2 assists, 0 rebounds, 1 turnover and shot 11-14 from the field and 6-6 from the 3 point arch. For the season he averaged 15.1 ppg, 3 apg, 2.9 rpg, 1.14 spg, and 1.71 tpg. He shot .528 from the field, .356 from 3 point land, and .735 from the free throw line.

i think we're just looking for somebody that can sink an open shot. its not too much to ask for but obviously harder than it sounds

If it was just Davis I would have understood but that move coupled with the signing of John Lucas, I think may be a signal that a trade is forthcoming - perhaps a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal in the works.

Could it be we're bringing in Lucas because we are moving some point guards????

Rockets sign John Lucas III; release Graham

The Houston Rockets moved to reinforce their depleted ranks by bringing back a familiar name, signing John Lucas III, the son of former Rockets guard John Lucas, the first pick of the 1976 draft, a source with knowledge of the transaction said today.

Like his father, Lucas is a traditional point guard, potentially offering help at the position at which Bob Sura and Rafer Alston have been hurt this season.

Lucas, 5-11, 165, played for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Summer League team, but was waived during the preseason. In 14 games with the Tulsa Drillers of the NBA Development League, Lucas averaged 15.1 points on 52.8 percent shooting, and three assists.

Lucas, 23, starred at Oklahoma State. To make room on the roster, the Rockets released Lucas' former teammate with the Oklahoma State, Stephen Graham.

Earlier today, the Rockets signed 6-8 forward Josh Davis.

    Yes.

We will be signing Billy Paultz's son, better known as "Whopper Jr.".

    Hah,

I just watched him play against the Austin Toros and was wondering why he was not in the NBA, he had 30pts and was CLEARLY the best player on the floor.

I did like Graham however, and thought with playing time he would be a keeper.
