I admit I am biased- but this guy is the best PG that will be figuring pretty high in the draft. He can defend, hit really really clutch shorts and has the speed to drive to the basket. I just hope we can fix this hole atleast next year- not that I am writing off this year!
I agree he would be nice to have. But how are we going to get a lottery pick? Although I don't want him to drop in the draft and I don't think he will, that would be a huge pick by him. I am pretty sure he will have a monster March Madness showing but maybe his pre-draft workouts, measurements, or athleticism will be a negative and drop him to us.
No way the Rockets draft Acie Law, he's Luther in sheeps clothing. We don't need another small 2 guard who wants to shoot.
There should have been an official ClutchFans office pool to pick how many minutes it would take before this thread appeared after the game last night.
Definitely respect Acie's game at the college level, however, we all know the L is a different story. The moves get snuffed out in the L.
I hate the Aggies, but Acie is a very good point guard. He's also one of the best clutch shooters I've seen. He'll never be around when it's the Rockets turn to draft though.
IC2k don't start this again.... Just kidding, actually Acie Law is pretty good, way better than Reggie McNeal was at being a quarterback. He can shoot the damned basketball that's for sure. I don't know if his size will work against him but I'd be happy to have him on my roster.
dude, u must be smoking some serious ish. How is Acie's shot ugly? First off he's a lefty and lefty's have the best stroke when it comes to shooting in basketball. Secondly, have you actually seen Marion's shot? If you had you wouldn't put Barbosa up there with him. Marion is on another level and there is only one other player in the world right now who is close to that level in terms of how ugly their shooting form is and that's Josh Childress of the Hawks. Marion Childress All others Acie law has a sweet shooting form.
I think we are more within the range of a Morris Almond, one of the highest scoring players in college b-ball. I know he plays in C-USA, which might take his 27 ppg to about 19 0r 20 ppg if he were in a better conference. Plus he shoots a decent %. Problem is his defense.
I was at the UT game last night and Acie Law can flat out PLAY. Even as a longhorn I would hope the Rockets draft him.
Some thoughts: 1. Acie law doesnt have NBA range. Yet... 2. When college players in any sport play the way Acie Law does, do the things he does, then you have to draft them with complete disregard for their workout numbers, athletic shortcomings, etc... The kind of intangible he has is one of the rarest attributes out there. 3. Defensively he will hold his own anywhere in the league if he adds strength. But on offense I feel it will take the perfect situation for him to excel. I feel he is the type of PG that needs good players around him to make him better rather than him making his teammates better. (for example Derek Fisher) 4. If he cant develop NBA range and JVG continues to not stress penetration (which isnt a big deal if Yao is there) then Law might not be that great of a fit. 5. He will be drafted in the top 13. Despite all that I would love to have him. I mean of course I would right. But I hated Law's game for years but he kept getting better, kept making me shut my mouth and praise him. Players like that are rare in any sport at any level.
Except he is so restrained in the 1st half. Constantly looking for his teammates, trying to get Carter hot and the big men going. I havent seen a NBA calibre PG that is so dominant at scoring do that in college in a long time. Maybe Khalid El-Amin did it. But not anywhere near this degree. I agree Law shoots with ice in his veins just like the Cat. Except Law's shots fall like he sold his soul to the devil...
remember marcus williams? yeah i thought so. who go him the nets....what pick did they have? yeah 23rd.
