I know there had been a post in the past about the Rocks being cool to fans in different cities. I am seeing them tonight in Chi-town and have seats right behind them. Do they give autographs during their shootaround and if so how early should I get to the game? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    1. Best to catch them in the runway, if possible.

    2. If you plan on getting them while they are on the floor during a s/a get to them early.

    3. Don't bother them near media, or while stretching.

    4. DEFINITELY not during the game. Ever. But ...

    5. ... if they win and they are standing around at the immediate end of the game, glad-handing other players, etc ... sometimes you can catch them and they'll "do a quickie" if you are super polite.

    6. Rockets are usually very accomadating. Hakeem is less avaiable over the last couple of years, unless he's on his way into the arena or leaving it. Cat, Bull(he won't be there, though), Carlos and Francis go out of their way to "quick one up".

    7. Have a pen and the book, mag, card, shirt, cap, whatever open and ready when you ask.

    8. Sometimes if you know someone of "importance" you can send it (card, hat etc...) into the lockeroom, BEFORE the game and shootaround. But if you are going to do that, send in a ball (and a pen) and ask for as many sigs as possible. They are used to passing around a ball and pen before a game.

    9. Get there real early. Before shootaround you'll improve your chances. Go to the players entrance first, near the buses. When the players arrive speak to them. Call them by name.

    10. Adults are at the lowest end of an athletes scale when it comes to autographs. So if you are with someone younger get them to do the asking.

    Good Luck.

Only two I could pretty much guarantee you getting autographs on are Walt and Mo if you ask them. Both are very nice guys who have no problem signing autographs-- just call them by name and you'll have no problem getting theirs. Last year, on the one road game I went to in DC, I got Steve, Cuttino, and Shandon's autographs all in one shootaround. They were all very pleasant, and Shandon actually talked to me for a minute-- he seemed surprised that someone on the road knew so much about him and liked him so much. Just get there early and try your luck.

Mo, Shandon, Walt and the Bull are really cool with autographs--though the Bull is out. Have not really dealt with Steve, Cuttino or others!!!

I think all four are sincere too.

Get there early is the best advice I have seen and let someone know you are from Houston..talk to anyone from the organization and let them know!!! Good luck!
