Didn't see this posted yet... I hope this actually happens, since overseas games get cancelled sometimes, but I think it would be fun for the Rox to play on Yao's home turf for once. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0602/1562083.html NEW YORK -- Yao Ming will return to China with the Houston Rockets for exhibition games in October 2004. The Rockets will play the Sacramento Kings in games in Shanghai and Beijing, the first ever played by the NBA in China. They will feature the 7-foot-6 Yao, who was the first overall choice in the draft last year. The NBA also announced its overseas schedule for 2003 on Monday, including games in Saitama, Japan on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 between Seattle and the Los Angeles Clippers to open the regular season. Overseas exhibitions include Dallas and Utah in Mexico City on Oct. 5; Miami and Philadelphia in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Oct. 7; San Antonio and Memphis in Paris on Oct. 8; and Memphis vs. FC Barcelona in Barcelona on Oct. 10.
haha im not so sure after last fall. i think wed be surprised how much chemistry and fundamentals are sacrificed for talent and flash these days if there were some way to quantify it on a graph. just watch the game in the 80's and then todays game. well, the league is making more money now so theyre happy. however, i dont think people are happy about losing to other countries in the sport that we dominate at. im definitely not, although it does make things more interesting. hopefully, therell be a wave of more fundamental players to sort of balance things out. as the league gets more international publicity and exposure, therell be more foreign kids playing basketball, making more future nba stars who might otherwise choose hockey or soccer as their first sport. very exciting time
