Seems our roster is 13 instead of 15. Of the 13 two cannot play and two rarely play leaving us to rotate the same 9 players.
How unusual is this? (outside of going into the championship in the 90's with only nine and then winning).
I also get nervous at the end of games we will obviously win and 5 of the 9 are still playing risking injury.

You don't see many teams out there with a 10+ man rotation.

Did you just start following the Rockets? Three years ago we had JVG as our coach, and the rotation was at 7 tops. Our players were T-Mac, Yao, Battier, and Alston, and then it went Hayes, Juwan Howard, and Luther Head. Yes we had a playoff game where only four people scored. No this was not surprising. Yes T-Mac had a reason to gripe about lack of help back then. No he no longer has the support of Rocket fans because he quit on us last year, the one time he was called upon to show up and meet high expectations because all the other elements for our team to be championship caliber had fallen into place.

Conclusion: 9 is a lot. Be happy with what you got. Now go home and eat your vegetables.

I don't think the amount of players being used is an issue actually a pretty good little rotation, problem I see is the amount of energy those guys are using. When a team has a superstar or even a star that person can carry a team during off nights to a victory, this team can't afford off night thus have to give there all every night. It will get draining and eventually wear them down thus the reason TMAC can be very important or whoever we get for him because it can relieve some of the pressure these guys are going through. If we end up with a 10 man rotation I'd say we would be deeper then most teams and with a star anchoring them it makes this team super dangerous.

Rockets have a very solid rotation. To me its great to have your rotation set in stone this early in the season. Most teams are usually trying to develop their rotation well into the season but the Rockets were fortunate to enter the season with their rotation set. This is an ideal situation for the Rockets as you can tell by the production of the bench. There is no fall off when the bench comes comes in which has allowed us to get victories on the Road against Utah, LA and damn near steal one last night against Atlanta. It is our rotation that has allowed us to be competitive against teams that are generally considered more talented than us. Be very happy with our rotation.

Tks. I am very happy with the nine we are playing. Just worry about fatigue and/or injury. The usual roster is 15 though, right?

I started watching the Rockets in the 90's/the two championships.
Had no interest in BB before that but boyfriend always had the games on so I watched and got hooked. Loved the team those years. Became a fan. Then was so upset that most all the players were traded away. I stopped following the Rockets for several years. Started again 2-3 years ago and now love this team.

no the usual ACTIVE roster during regular season is 9-10
in the playoffs maybe even 7-8

the point is: you want your best players on the floor to win games instead of bench warmers.

That is how some coaches role. Personally, I have complained about Adelman not using the bench or giving the certain starters like Yao or McGrady or Battier more minutes of rest but that is how it is. Be thankful our bench is as deep as it is that, we could have more then half of our starters resting for almost a quarter without a significant drop off.

With an Injury Free and Contributing TMAC, the Rox have an even More Dangerous Rotation... and if all goes Smoothly with Yao, we should be Extremely Happy with our Rotation...

No the "roster" is the number of guys on the team, that's 15. the "active" roster is whoever is activated to play/wear a uni and that's 12 a game. the three leftover are usually on the IL, which now is just the inactive list i believe. You're talking about the rotation AKA guys who regularly get PT, which is 9-10 and usually tightened in the playoffs.
