http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...w-?slug=sk-rankings031505&prov=yhoo&type=lgns THE HIGH FIVE 1. Miami Heat (49-16) ¡V The Heat jump to the top spot for the first time all season. Nine straight wins does the trick for Miami, which is getting great play from its role players. Two superstars and a great supporting cast? Maybe the Heat really are good enough to challenge Detroit and San Antonio for the title. 2. San Antonio Spurs (48-15) ¡V The chink in the armor is small, but it's there. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are banged up and look like they could use rest after many summers of playing for their respective national teams. Gregg Popovich's goal is to have them fresh for the playoffs, even if it means giving up home-court advantage. 3. Phoenix Suns (48-15) ¡V The Suns enjoyed a great road win over a red-hot Nuggets team Sunday night, but their 20-point loss to Houston raised a red flag. Can they win against a great defensive team in the playoffs? We'll find out next month. 4. Detroit Pistons (39-23) ¡V Speaking of great defensive teams, the Pistons actually won a game Sunday in which they scored 64 points ¡V including just six in the fourth quarter. Ugly? Yes. Good? Very. 5. Houston Rockets (38-25) ¡V The smoking Rockets move ahead of Seattle into the top five, thanks to the Sonics' recent three-game losing streak. Give Carroll Dawson major credit. A soft team has been toughened due to a series of midseason trades that garnered Mike James, Jon Barry and David Wesley. Does anyone want to play these guys in the playoffs?
Steve Kerr is finally getting his act straight. We're a force to be reckon with. The way I see it, this is the exactly the five teams that are championship contenders.
yes, i think these is pretty fair rankings, but i can't believe kerr could will himself into taking SA out of the top spot.
LOL, No kidding! I don't remember what game it was, but I was watching one of the Rockets games on ABC (I think). Anyway, it was a nation-televised game. They were showing the ages of the role-players on the roster but, of course, they had to use some cute gimmick with animated graphics to portray it. That's right, they used the "dildo" rocket ship, old logo, soaring up into the air. I don't understand why the media can't figure out that we have a new logo and have had it for a season and a half now.
Indeed it is. Kerr never misses a chance to give Yao, and the Rockets in general, the business when hes doing color.
Wow. That's not placing us as a top five team in the West, which is as good as most of us hoped for before the season began, it's placing us as a top five team in the League. I love it. Carroll Dawson, I love you. Jeff Van Gundy, I love you. Where's Tim at? I love you too, Tim. I love Tracy. I love Yao. I love Bobby. I love Mike. I love David. I love Dikembe. I love Scott. I love Ryan. I love Jon. Hell, I love Moochie. I love the Rockets.
Exactly. And when ESPN does a segment on Yao, often I have seen the Dark Blue jersey on him from his rookie year. No respect. At least on other players that are new Rockets, ESPN actually has to go find clips of them with the new duds. Can't be showing T-Mac in a Magic jersey.
