Should be able to win 16 games and close the season with a better record than last year. Playoffs? Don't hold your hopes too high. Best scenario is a quick first round exit.
There's no way the Rockets make the playoffs. We have barely been competitive against the Spurs, Mavs, and Kings, we've been inconsistent against the T-Wolves, and that game against the Lakers was an anamoly. Memphis owns us, Denver has gotten a lot better since we beat them in the season opener, and you just know that the Rockets will find a way to lose to the scrubs, like they always do... It's the same old story...Beat up on the East teams, then get waxed by the West. Just look at our division and conference records...
OK smart guy, then who's going to make the playoffs instead? Utah? They're a game under .500 and 4 and a half games back Seattle? Yeah, they're burning things up, having won 4 out of their last 10. And don't forget, this after a 4 game skid by the Rox. Not only that, but we've played the fewest home games of any West team, 23. Utah has played like 28--and they are still back in the rear view mirror. You're the anomaly. The pessimism schtick is lame, is already used by too many, and is flat out wrong. The Rockets will make the playoffs barring any major injury this year and you will look even dumber than you do now. Enough already.
You can't handle the truth!! Come on, man...you have to see the whole picture... Houston has the worse conference and division record of any of the 8 playoff seeds right now...What is mostly left? DING DING! Conference and division games! We have a worse conference record than Utah, despite playing six fewer conference games. Utah sucks on the road, but they more games against the East after the all star break. Just like Houston, they're beating up against the East teams. They're also the best coached team in the league, which counts for a lot. Seattle seems to be the opposite of Houston. They're doing pretty well against the West, but not good against the East. If they can go 4-1 or 3-2 in that five game road trip next month, they have a good shot at the playoffs...Portland is a wildcard with their recent surge, but their road is far to weak and they have a lot of road games left. Trust me, Houston's ineptitude against the West will come back to haunt them...write it down!
No offense means no playoff. It is obvious that JVG is quailifed for a coach of Eastern teams, but his offense strategy sucks against Western teams. I don't think ROX's strong defense could compensate for its weak offense. Just check the offensive performance of AG, MJ, CW and CATO who are JVG's favorite players. Whith these guys were in the court, as seen in the last two games, ROX would have scoring drought. No way for ROX to playoff with JVG's offense.
Wrong. Houston vs. WC 11-15 42% Utah vs. WC 14-18 43% Yeah, A-Train, huge difference there. Utah has really proven that they are far and away better against the West. . UTah v. EC 10-8 Houston v. EC 18-6 That 10-8 record shows that they're just beating up on them! Well, actually, they're not, not even close, which is why they are 4.5 games back of the Rockets. Does the fact that they're so well coached count for extra games in the standings? Let me know....cause they sure need it, and their 6-17 road record, which is among the very worst in the league, ain't helping matters given that they have more road than home games left. I'm not even going to bother with Portland and Seattle, they're five and half and six games back, just barely holding off the Clippers for the critical 9th and 10th seeds. Maybe they'll make it to the NIT. Why do you want the Rockets to fail to the point of making stuff up to crap on them? Enough bashing goes on around here as it is. It doesn't make any sense.

You were making stuff up. You fabricated the contention that Utah had been "beating up on the East" like the Rockets when in fact they have been doing nothing of the kind. You likewise exaggerated the fact that Utah had a better conference record than the Rockets when the two teams are almost dead even. And as 'crappy' as the Rockets WC records are, they are only marginally worse than Utah's, and nowhere near as bad as Utah's abysmal road record...which is quite a problem since Utah has a bunch more road than home games left to play. Add it up. You're just being intransigent for the sake of being intransigent, and this act is tired and stale. Let's bet. I will take your signature for a year if the Rockets don't make the playoffs, barring any prolonged injury or suspension of Yao or Steve. Now we'll see who's afraid of what. Are you up to it?
I have similar concerns as A-Train did about ROX's coming games. We must admit that JVG's weak offense cannot help win the Western teams. Lottery wins over Western teams is not enough for a playoff spot.
wow very informative posts.. it almost felt like a good versus evil battle for the souls of the Rox players. hahahaha (we can all guess who would be the evil =P) I think we have a strong chance at making the playoffs.. were still in contention while our 2 stars are struggling. What happens when they figure things out and their games start to pick up? I hope for a 6 or 7 seed that would give us a much better chance of advancing to the next round. Lets pay attention to how this team is playing and hope for the best. J

Once the Rox are in the playoffs, they will do better than expected. JVG took a last place Knicks team to the NBA finals. The tyle of bball that Rox is playin' is more suitable for the playoffs.
humiliation? Please...I've been wrong before and admitted it. This place is an addiction for me, so not being able to post would be extremely difficult. I don't know if I have the willpower to just stop posting, though, so if I lose the bet, I'll have to do something to convince Clutch to ban me.
