As inconsistent as the Rockets have been this season, they are right there in the playoff hunt, and are right there for home court advantage. 2)Spurs 33-13 3)Portland 33-13 4)Clippers 33-16 5)Rockets 32-17 6)Suns 28-18 Again, the next few games are VERY winnable, I wouldnt be shocked to see us go 7-31 in our next 8. With the Spurs battling injury to nearly everybody, now is our chance. Ladies and Gents, we have a legitimate shot to snag home court for the first round.
Not to rain on the parade, but our defense just needs to improve. We will always be pretenders until it improves.
I was looking at the standings a little while ago. 2.5 games behind both the Spurs and Blazers. 1 game behind the Clippers. All of them play tonight. Blazers aren't having much trouble with the Raptors, but there is a lot of time left. Spurs are losing by 1 point to the Kings with 3:30 left in the game. Clippers play the Jazz tonight. Jazz probably win. It's tightening up.
I will be highly disappointed with the Rockets if they go 7-31 over the next 8 games. That kind of record just won't get it done...
The defense actually isn't bad. The problem is that sometimes the offense goes into these ridiculous droughts when the opposing team picks up their intensity. I don't know why this is, but the Rockets somewhat fold when the pressure is on. They gotta learn to keep their cool and not get flustered and go into an offensive dry spell.
I'll take being a pretender over being perennial 9th seed. It's a lot more fun to see if we can get homecourt for the 1st round then wondering if we can get off the 14th pick wagon. I've gone through too many 14th picks and 1st round exits to really ask for too much this year.
New cell phone. It auto corrects all my numbers to all kinds of crazy stuff. Tried to type in a stat line earlier and it looked like some secret code. Im with ya, 7-31 would be a heart breaker.
but you just jinxed it.. now we lose. But seriously.. everytime rockets win 3 straight, someone makes a thread like this about winning more upcoming games and Rockets lose every time.
I think it's feasible we go 8-2 the next 10 games to get to 40-17 by the end of the month. That sets us up for great position to make a run at winning 56 games this season if we can maintain our pace. I think we will barring injury. I think this team is vastly improved.
Should have waited til after the Phoenix game before making this thread. I think that game will say a lot if we win or lose
