I've heard some talk about the lack of player development as a reason why the Rockets should trade the #1 draft pick. But I disagree. If there's one thing the Rockets have always done right in my opinion, it's developing big men (please hold off on your Cato bashing remarks at this time ). No need to spout off the Olajuwon accolades here. Not to mention Othella Harrington & Kenny Thomas have shown the league that their hard work & persistent has made them very valuable members to any organization. Then there's talk of the lack of development of our guards. Although Stevie Francis could probably improve a bit on the defensive end, it's taken him all of 3 years to get elected to the all star team at a position lots of talented players play. He probably even deserved an all star selection even more in the previous year. Then there's talk of Eddie Griffin. Some don't like what he's doing. Others reply "He's only 19 ... give him some time." Personally, it looks to me as if he could potentially be the Houston answer to KG -- a taller SF with post up skills & an outside shot. He blocks better when he's playing off the ball, so I think that role may suit him well. I think as far as player development is concerned, the Rockets know what they're doing. Talent evaluation and monetary compensation for that talent, on the otherhand ... Feel free to disagree.
