After all these trades the past few years, I am totally lost on what picks the Rockets have rights to for the 2002 draft. I know TMo cost us a first rounder (hopefully we will think of it as a steal by the end of the season), but I'm not sure what is up with our other draft picks. Does anyone know where we stand next year, and the next couple of years?

    Thanks for any help!

I believe we have toronto's 1st this year, but not or own.

We should have one second rder this year after trading one to Dallas and them sending one back.

After that I think all the rocket picks are theirs and they have no more left from other teams after toronto.

To qualify the status of this year's pick owed to Memphis, apparently we have the option of sending it to them this year OR next year. It has to be Top-15, and doesn't have to be ours as long as it's two positions within where we pick in the draft.

    Relativist,

I thought that was the situtation last year.

I think it has to be the rocks pick this year, the within two picks may still apply. I am confident the top 15 is gone or reduced to top 10 or soemthing of the sort.

    I'm could easily be wrong.

    Joe Joe,
I know what you're talking about, but JuanValdez did say a couple months ago that the Rockets don't have to give up the pick this year, surprisingly. I wish I could find the post, but I can't. Hopefully, it's true.

The Atlanta pick was through Detroit, so that doesn't really factor into our future picks.

    We are owed
-A 2002 lotto protected first rounder through Toronto, (not positive on the 2002 or lotto protection, Hakeem trade)
-A 2002 2nd rounder through Toronto (conditional, unclear on conditions, Hakeem trade)
-A future first or 2 2nds, and Chicago can not trade their first until completely out of the playoffs (conditional, I believe until 2007, Bryce Drew trade)
-Future Considerations from Dallas AND New York (conditions unknown, Rice trade)

    We owe
-Our 2002 2nd rounder to Milwaukee (Willis trade)
-A future first to Memphis, (conditions unclear, most likely 2002 lotto protected, Francis trade)

So, it looks like IMO, we'll lose both of our own picks, and receive both of Toronto's picks. At that point, we will have no more debts, and still be owed by Chicago, and possibly Dallas and New York.
