Denver, Utah, Portland all lost tonight.

The mighty Kings bowed to the powerful Wizards after getting routed by the Nets last night. (Do the Kings seem to be a worse team after Chris Webber returned to the starting lineup? Peja deferred, and was confused with his offense. Miller is worse coming off the bench. Wish that we can beat them this Sunday)

The Hawks just scored 69 points in the 1st half against the Mavericks. S. Jackson got 31 in the 1st half. It seems that no one on the Dallas team cares about the win any more with the exception of Finley, Dirk, and maybe Nash. Fire sale is coming this summer from Dallas.

Do you think the rockets might be able to get back one of their biggest mistakes from a few years back and get Eddie Najara from the mavs?

Punk has no game. Made a name for himself for playing tough D on Yao. i don't mind seeing Yao giving him 2-3 nice hard elbows whenever we play Dallas. Dude deserves it.

This would make the magic number 10, correct?

BTW, JVG would have had multiple heart attacks tonight if he were coaching the Mavericks. With one minute left in the game and down 4, Nash made a nice layup, and the whole Dallas team was so busy cheering for the basket that the Hawks got a non-contested dunk on the other end within no Mavericks within 20 feet of the basket.

Dallas is poised to lose in the first round. They might give their opponents some fight and get two games, but they will lose the series for sure.

WOOO!! Nice thread, thanks for spreading the word. I didn't know. Dang, the Kings are really on a decline since inserting Webber in the starting rotation again....

That punk is full of energy. He plays tough D against most centers/power forwards. Get him and you can get rid of padgett, weatherspoon, and pike. Then you can go and get some much needed shooters.

At the moment, all western teams lost the games to Eastern teams (5:0) tonight. This is amazing. Rox got a break.

Compared to Webber (16/7/5), Kwame Brown (30/19/3) looks like a superstar.

He has no offensive game to say the least. if that is all you want out of him, why no go ahead and sign Rodman who also knows how to play mind game?

You get him for many years to come. Rodman would be about as good as Barkley would be right now. We could get more HEART and HUSTLE from him than we already get from MoT, Padgett, and Pike combined. We could let Padgett, Pike, Weatherspoon, and MoT go in a trade and get some offense, did you not read my earlier post?

Absolutely! Both Utah and Portland are at 34:34, so the most wins they can get is 48 if they win all 14 remaining games.

However 10 is just a theoretical number. Practically I don't see either of them can win more than 9 games out of 14, which means their best record will be no better than 43:39. So in all likelyhood 44 wins should clinch a spot for this season. Thus the real "magic number" is 5. Now call me optimistic :D

Yao Ming and Labron James have ruined other #1 picks. A new bar has been set.

I want to play Dallas, but it looks like they'll only finish a few games ahead of us.

I bet we play the Lakers. Tehy've played less road games than anyone in the NBA so far, they probably have the easiest remaining schedule in the league. Plus, they've got everyone back from injury and want to get rolling for the playoffs.

Looks like we're going to get steamrolled by the Lakers in the playoffs. I can't see how we can possibly beat them with Malone and now a health Rick Fox.

Sane, I agree. I'm not a religious man, I don't believe in destiny, fate, all that . . . but something just tells me that we're meant to play the Lakers. It'll happen. The Lakers will climb to the 2nd seed, we'll still be in 7th.

And yes, we will lose. But dear God, man what a delicoius matchup . . . This will be a first round playoff series for the ages. The mindgames between Van Gundy and Jackson. Kobe vs. Mobley. Francis vs. Payton. Oh, and some other matchup at the 5 spot that might get some pub.

(Sorry, I know I've posted this in the past, but I'm just so juiced about this possiblity).

edited to add -- the #7 seed would play the winner of the Midwest division, regardless of record. so forget a 2/7 rockets/lakers matchup. it'll have to be 3/6 . . .
