We have read all kinds of articals rating offseasons for teams. For the most part the Rox rating has been pretty good but of course theres allways some sports writer out there who allways hate on the Rox. Anyways i was wondering what you guys/gals think about our offseason. Rank: A, B, C, D, or F. I personaly got to vote "A" becuase we got wat i wanted all of last year, SWIFT!

    Please Explain Your Pick...

They couldn't keep Scotty the Body. They get an F.

Seriously though, I don't know how you don't rank this offseason at least an A-. Bobby Sura's knee not healing quickly is a minor setback, and the glut at the guard positions will have to be dealt with. But otherwise, they filled every need they had and didn't lose any key free agents.

I can't give them an A without adding a 3 point sharpshooter (most likely at SG). We need someone who can go off from the outside and consistently make teams pay when they decide to squeeze T-Mac and Yao.

It's got to be an A. While other teams like the Suns and Mavericks have taken a step or two backwards, we kept all of the key contributors on our team together after re-signing Barry and Mutumbo. We locked up Yao before he was ever even a restricted free agent, and that's literally unheard of these days, and we add Stromile Swift for the MLE and Derek Anderson for the LLE? Stromile Swift is most likely our new starting power forward and Anderson stands a fair chance of earning a starting spot too. All of that and we only lose Padgett and Weatherspoon?

    A+

Anderson, Barry, Wesley all 40+% three point shooters. Wesley struggled a bit at the end of the season with 3pt shooting because of injuries and timing, but he's lethal if he's left open. We all know about Barry. Anderson is streaky ala Damon Stoudamire, but watch out when he gets hot.
We don't need somebody who's strictlya three point shooter ala Wesley Person. You need basketball players/playmakers not somebody whose whole game is stand in a corner. We got that in Derek Anderson. He's so underrated

I didn't really mean someone who could only shoot 3s, just a clear #3 option on offense, very likely a 3pt shooter, who we could count on. If we got DS along with DA & Swift, I'd vote A. If DA turns out the be the playmaker many seem to think and if our 3pt shooters by committee works well, I'll be satisfied. When you look at what we paid for Swift and DA, maybe it's a B+.

I gave the rox B+. Reason being, they have way too many guards. Once they can get rid of at least one of them they will be golden. The guard situation doesnt sit too well. JVG said he thinks it will detract from the overall team chemistry if they have too many players competing for minutes in similar positions (PG & SG). The offseason is not over yet, and I think that it is fairly likely the rox will be able to free up some roster space before the beginning of the season.

Let's see. The Rockets went into the offseason with the MLE, the LLE, a 1st round pick, a lot of expiring contracts, and a lot of momentum from the NBA Playoffs.

And the rockets got Swift for the MLE whom the Grizzleys tried to resign last year for 8 million or so a year.

The Rockets got Anderson for the LLE whom a couple of teams would have given him the whole MLE.

The Rockets got Head in the first round, a guy who is very athletic. Head is up in the air as to wether he will ever be a contributor, but he does provide the athleticism that was lacking in the back court. Whenever he is ready to play.

The Rockets released Weatherspoon, an expiring contract. But, they still have 3 expiring contracts on board to use in potential trade situations. Will another Barron Davis opportunity present itself? Probably NOT! But if it does, the rockets will be ready.

Then the Rockets surprised us all by resigning Yao for 5 years without a lot of us expecting it.

Resigning Mutumbo after there was a push by other teams to get him.

Getting Barry to come back from retirement.

But, the only thing the Rockets didn't address was the pure point guard they were after. Damon Stoudomire would have made this offseason an A++.

But considering that there were so many needs and only so few resources, the Rockets did a heck of a job of putting the team together. Just plainly awsome. CD really did a stupendous job. I still am awed that the Rockets got Swift to sign for them here in Houston.

My rocket rating for the offseason is A+ considering all of the needs they had and the limited resources to get things done.

I gave it a B, because we still have a few worthless bench warmers, but B is good and I'm optimistic.

    However, I give Shawn786's outdated Rocket's/Dallas win count an F. ;)

I gotta give it an A. Every team has worthless bench warmers, plus the fact that they are in the last years of their contracts makes them good trade bait. I thought CD wasnt considered enough for Executive of the year last year, getting tracy , bob, james, wesley, and barry. He did a good job this summer with getting a solid PF, too bad CD gets no national love

    Get a PF= Swift
    Get more athletic= Swift/DA/Head
    Get younger= Swift/Head
    Keep chemistry= Barry/Deke
    Keep core= Yao extension

I would say it has been a great offseason for us, they get an A.

A solid B. Why? They added a atheletic 4, but we still dont know what we have in him. They added size at 2, but again he's injury prone and not a good shooter. The backup behing T-Mac and another guy who can get to the ft lines was not added. It can get better throughout the season if swift plays up to his ceiling and Anderson stays healthy. Until then, the rox are still behind Spurs.. They also haven't used the last yr contracts to really solidify their team.

    A+ in my book....
Got the best PF on the market

Picked up a versatile SG for cheap

Didn't get a point guard but there wasn't really one available that I would have wanted anyway and I kinda like Sura's grit

Dumped Clarence "The Big Lug" Weatherspoon's contract

Signed Yao to a max extension and in turn rippin' the hearts out of thousands of Lakers fans :D

    Way to go CD!!! :)

Ok now I can see some of you pipe dream guys voting our offseason a B but c'mon fes up.......who voted a D and an F???
