all talks regarding the rockets offseason trades and signing plans should be put in this thread during the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. anything relevant about potential trades, free agent signings, and sign and trades talks put it here. provide links, if necessary to back up your claims and positions on where the rockets organization is going this summer. do not discuss potential draft picks here, there is another forum for that
I think we should go after Tracy McGrady. Plus Mike James and Steve Francis. Plus the OP should be traded for a Snickers bar.
I was for going after Bosh in a sign & trade, and still open to that, but no matter what I think we need to add some toughness. Who that is, i'm not sure, I need to research it. Someone that is physical, kind of how Ron Ron helped us a year ago, but probably at the 4 spot and possibly even the 2 or 3 spot off the bench. I'm worried we may be a little soft next year
if i was General manager daryl morey, this offseason I would first resign the restricted free agents scola for 7-8 million, and lowry for 3-4 million; then I would sign free agent defensive center marcus camby for about 3-4 milion to backup yao at the center position and provide a capable potential stater in case yao goes down again; in the draft I draft a defensive big about 6-11 to 7-0 ft tall with my low 13-14th draft pick for rox long term plans; if any money left I would try to sign manu ginobili to the MLE or go after von wafer to be our offensive wing of the bench. what do you guys think is this realistic and possible?
Here's what the Rockets better not do which is overpay for mediorce talent: like the Pistons in their 2009 offseason: http://www.hoopsvibe.com/features/b...-billups-and-the-death-of-the-detroit-pistons or the Sixers in their 2008 offseason http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-hawks-...waiting-for/?cxntfid=blogs_atlanta_hawks_blog HAWKS VS. SIXERS I’ll never forget Mike Woodson talking before the season began. “You don’t want to go the other way”, he said, in reference to team progress. I think we can safely say that the Hawks didn’t “go the other way” in regard to team growth, at least in the regular season. The Philadelphia 76ers are a different story altogether. I wonder if they regret their fake wooing of Josh Smith now? Whatever you may think of Rick Sund, be thankful you don’t have Ed Stefanski. He fired the coach, hired another, spent $82 million on the part-time (and vastly underachieving) Elton Brand, and another $57 million on Andre Iguodala, in an attempt to leap-frog teams like the Atlanta Hawks. Instead, the Sixers regressed to 25 wins (so far) this season and have been soundly spanked by the Hawks by an average of about 14 ppg. No one can blame Iguodala, a jack of all trades who fills the stat sheet nicely. But something tells me Stefanski could be looking for a job this summer. If nothing else, perhaps the Sixers give him another year, as they can at least hope for a nice placement in the NBA draft lottery in June.
Two words: Chris Bosh Listen to this pipe dream... Somehow the Rockets get the #1 pick and draft Wall. Sign and trade Brooks/Scola/Jeffries for Bosh. Wall/Lowry Martin/Battier Ariza/Battier Bosh/Anderson/Hayes Yao/Hill/Hayes
That would be the dumbest thing to do. Aaron Brooks has developed into a good ball player and wall hasn't proven anything. The rockets don't need anymore guards. They need a backup center. Scola has shown what he can do at the 4... and it's pretty good. If there was a smart trade to bring in bosh it'd be another story like, expiring contracts and draft picks since we have so many. A trade consisting of Battier, Jefferies and Anderson plus the 2011 1st round pick from the Knicks for Bosh would be a nice sign and trade. That would give us. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Budinger Ariza/Whoever we sign with the MLE Bosh/Scola Yao/Hill
I agree that sign and trade for Bosh should be top priority, but if we happen to land the #1 pick, hahaha, but if we did, I feel drafting Wall would be the best option, then you can trade Brooks and Jeffries and filler for Bosh, you would only really have to give up Brooks to make a package better than what anyone else, like Dallas, would offer.
Kind of like when the Lakers traded a good ball player like Vlade Divac for the draft rights to an unproven kid named Kobe Bryant? That kind of dumb?
if we really want all discussions to go where they belong, then we need at least 3 separate "official" threads. There's no way we can all follow a conversation about several topics, that all have various options, in one thread. There should be a new draft thread, a new FA thread, and trade thread, at the very least...
we all can see john wall is probably gonna be a great player, kobe came straight outta comp- high school
He can play Center, he is 6'11 with a 7'4 wingspan, plus he could add muscle this summer to his frame, which would make the center position an ideal spot for him(Monroe) --RB
Kinda unfair to use the Kobe situation as a comparison, Kobe sorta did a John Elway and hinted he'd go to Duke if he wasn't going to the Lakers. Otherwise he would have been drafted way higher.
just dont draft Larry Sanders. Please dont.My most hated ex gf is last name Sanders. I hate her more than anyone on earth. Thank god Hill is playing good, maybe that means we dont take favors or sanders or patterson. (im not sold on any of the pf's in draft) Actually,Im not sold on anyone except Varnado. I think he is the steal of the draft. The next landry or blair of the draft. His team sucks so bad, made him look bad. Morey should trade down for two picks and take varnado and warren. That way we dont have to keep calling up conroy(willie warren) or mike harris (varnado)
this is how i see the rockets lineup next season as pg- brooks/lowry sg- martin/buddinger/ hopefully manu ginobilli (F.A.) sf- ariza/battier pf-scola/hill/jeffries c-yao/camby/draft pick/hayes
