Rockets not contender yet... Well, that is obvious but if you saw the game tonight you would say that a team that wins 6 in a row, including beating a very good team on the road and that has been playing well since a trade must now be a championship contender. Problem is, that philospophy now perfectly describes the Boston Celtics, not the Houston Rockets. Boston is not a contender. Nor is Houston, not the same way SA or Detroit is a contender, or even Miami or Phoenix. This loss means very little, about as little as a few road wins...
We didn't have Juwan.. We missed like TONS of shots tonight. I think we will bounce back. In playoffs..we'll be FOR REAL!!!!! And even if we are not contenders..we have a good foundation..and we can build on it..adding some good quality guys. I'd like to take Mark Blount.
I'm sorry, but if Juwon is the difference between winning and losing by double digits, this team is not a contender.

Seems to me i said he was a project, and that was 3 years ago. Yao is pretty good now, but he's still got a lot to learn to become the likes of a Olajuwon, a Shaq, or a Duncun which is what the expecation was. I said Yao would never become a Shaq or Olajuwon - he won't. He just doesn't have the quickness which is something you can't teach. He's more of a Sabonis - maybe a bit better, and for an NBA center, that's pretty good. And a serious injury could easily end his career. I still wonder how long his body will hold up ala Ralph Sampson. Playing year round without rest - very dangerous for any player, much less a 7'6" bohemeth.
I think the same thing after their last win. I'll be impressed when Houston beats SA in SA, or beats Miami. When Houston can do that, I'll start to think they are for real. Right now, they just look like a team's that hot - just like the Boston Celtics...
Legend made his point clearly though. He was referring to you as one who said previously that Yao was going to be a bust. You said that was false, and he pointed out a quote from you where you referred to yourself having said exactly that. Were you wrong then or now?
I said Yao MIGHT be a bust - one never knew. I never said he was going to be a bust for sure. I was wrong neither then nor now.
