..to turn their attention to another deal. Who do you think is the current primary trade target for the Rockets?

Well when was the last time A rockets trade rumor from the media, actually happened? Isn't it always something we don't expect? Like that Artest trade...
Exactly. It's gonna be something random like Ray Felton (expiring), or hopefully Marcin Gortat or James Harden.
It's an opportunity to sell Deron on the team and organization and potentially sets up the opportunity to bring in another star (Dwight?) via free-agency.
The leverage of a 5 year contract to a point guard is a lot higher than a 5 year contract to Dwight. Dwight could presumably make up the last year in his next deal. With a PG, there is less of a chance that he would be in line for another max deal at the end of four years. So this would give us the advantage over Dallas come this summer in negotiating a deal with TWill. Also, our collection of talent left over after the trade will probably be more impressive to DWill than a 35 year old Dirk and an otherwise gutted roster. Additionally, Houston would satisfy DWill's expressed desire not to pay a state income tax, the same as Dallas. Finally, see: http://rockets.clutchfans.net/2279/deron-williams-houston-rockets/
