The Hum drums have got to go....for that much technology we have in the toyota center you would think they would come up with a better intro.

Man, I have been to nearly every homegame since the preseason, and I can tell you this much, those drum dudes are so damn stupid. I swear, its the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! I miss yelling my head off and screaming and all that stuff. Now I would rather sleep during the intro. PLEASE GOD HELP US!!!!!

What don't channel 51 let us watch the rockets intro? I would love to see them cheerleaders. They showed it last year. This year they don't show anything except when the lights come back on. They don't even show the cheerleaders that much. I say we complain. I could care less about those drummers, all I care about is seeing those cheerleaders dancing and shaking it up.

They should bring back the countdown and do something space related.

Houston is the home of manned spaceflight and they are the Rockets after all.

Mix in some cool sound effects and some upbeat music and it would be awesome.

What happened to the old days at the Summit when the lights got dim and they played that cool music?

Exactly the drums in that new arena do not hype you up at all. It feels like people are banging on some pots and pans out there. you need some BASS to feel in your gut with some music to get my pumped up and feel the game and music that is going on. When they had the old starting lineups in the summit it was awesome. right now i can't get pumped at all with them it's such a waste. when the play music for the power dancers, it is loud and has enough bass to rumble the place and you feel it. the way it is now we have to have the weakest intro in the league. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHANGE IT.

There was nothing wrong with Clutch coming out on the bike and revving up the engine, with "ALRIGHT HOUSTON!! ON YOUR FEET...." I found myself sitting down during the drumming intro because its so dull and boring. I went to one of the first home games and the crowd wasn't into it at all.

PLEASE CHANGE THE INTRO, IT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE, GUARANTEED

yeah i want to watch the pacers game on the 23rd, but if me and my friends can create a better atmosphere in a small living room than in a million dollar arena, why bother. i went to a clippers game at compaq center last year and the crowd was about as involved as a bunch of students during lecture. if rockets games had half the atmosphere of a college game i dont think we'd have trouble with the arena looking half empty..

    Now that's good comedy.

Seriously, we look hard at everything. Especially the opening. Some of the elements for the open that we wanted to have ready when the season started weren't ready. But that's life, and it's part of being in a new building, and it's our job to find ways around that, which we're working on. You probably won't see any changes in the next few games (coordinating and producing materials for on-court, scoreboard, and sound just takes some time) but you'll see some changes.

Cool, thanks a lot for you input Tim. I am glad to hear y'all are going to make some changes. I too miss the good 'ol count down with the special effects and great music. THe intro is intended to pump up the fans.....so far IMO there is no pumping being done.

Thanks Tim, your input is always appreciated.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the Kill Bill theme song would make a fantastic intro song for the Rockets. They already play it during timeouts and it gets me pumped up. Mix that song, along with some killer intro graphics, a few sexy rocket dancers, and fireworks at the beginning of games and I'll be a happy camper.

Personally, I'd love to see an intro based on those in the final game of "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh." You know, with the hot air balloon and all that! :D

If you young'uns haven't ever rented that movie, you should check it out.

    TIM -

By any chance, would these new changes involve the HD-LED Ribbon boards?

Please say these do... that technology is far to cool to just let them sit there blank during the starting lineups (hell, if it were up to me, they'd be flashing cool graphics throughout the game, rather than just ads).

I was kinda suprised that u guys stuck w/ the drums for this year as well... but I was REALLY suprised that you guys didn't utilize the ribbon boards like every other team in the league that has them does.

    Hopefully, its gonna change!

Yeah, those things are really awesome. I went to the AA center once to a Mavs and Rockets game. Those ribbon boards look so sweet with the graphics flashing on them.

Not to pour salt on the wound, but here are some suggestions for the intro:

    1. Pick a high powered, exciting song and play it LOUD.

    2. Have the ribbon boards exploding with color and graphics.

    3. A countdown to the intro would be nice.

    4. Just try to make the intro exciting as possible, it gets the crowd pumped and ready for the game.

I truly believe that a new high powered introduction and a new announcer would improve the TC experience drastically.

You could have several rockets on the ribbon boards, have them face each other, blast off around the ribbon board, and collide and explode at various points around the arena. That would shake things up. It would give new meaning to shooting yourself in the foot as well. Self destructive symbolism. :p

The drummers probably signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract to be the center of the intro, with a no trade clause to boot.
