I do like the part about Daniel Santiago. He could be a nice addition off the bench for our front line.
I would like to see Landry and Dorsey with the Rockets this year. I think Morey is moving the Rockets in a good direction. Sooner or later we'll be looking like the blazers with all the young talent.
Yes, this is from hoops world. Bill Ingram has posted a follow up, where he says: [rquoter] All of that said, the point here is not that Santiago or anyone else could replace Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey, or even Dikembe Mutombo. When I said the Rockets are "moving on," I meant the Rockets are beginning to look at who else could fill out their roster rather than dwelling on some restricted free agents and a second round draft pick who will probably fall in line by the time training camp gets underway. More than a few players are in this same situation, with the Cleveland Cavaliers' Delonte West being the most talked-about example. Restricted free agents are constantly hoping for an offer to come in that might set their value a little higher than it would be otherwise. Carl Landry is no different. The Rockets have been very clear in saying they will match any such offer should one be tendered. [/rquoter] So, he's not saying that the Rockets have chosen not to sign Carl Landry and Dorsey. What he *meant* is that the negotiations aren't currently ongoing, and that the Rockets are taking a look at some other players for training camp. I don't know why he chose to word it that way to begin with. It seems like he's backtracking to me.
Whatever he meant, doesn't mean the Rockets don't feel that way. They could be getting tired of dealing with Landry. Training camp is coming soon and they better start getting this all together.
this is the first time i am hearing anything about the rockets having trouble with dorsey's demands. i thought the ONLY reason dorsey has yet to sign is because the rockets need to wait for carl landry to sign.
I hear Kelvin Cato was to play again and he'll do it for free since he feels bad about taking all that money from us. Although, he did say only under one condition and that was he wants to catch at least one alley-oop per game from Steve this season.
So he didn't mean they were moving on, he just meant they are taking a look at other players for training camp and still negotiating. Thanks for the breaking news there, Bill. God knows Daryl Morey could never multi-task such a thing so it's nice to know the GM has focused all his energy into getting Daniel Santiago a flight on Orbitz.... that is, if he's "truly committed to moving on". Yeah, I'd say "backtracking" is an understatement We're in a very sad state of the offseason when we're posting 2-week old Hoopsworld stories. It's almost over ... almost over.
I also heard they are trying to convince Charles Jones to come out of retirement. Maybe he can get another ring out of it
not a bad post either. i truly hope landry is signed. dorsey im so so on. and i really hope mutumbo signs also. one big reason being beside his spot on play when yao has gone down but also i think he is a good influence on players like artest and alston. i would assume that those guys respect what he is doing in africa and how he carries himself. on a side note imagine if deke was in his prime and we could sit yao and tmac in the game and have battier and deke come in to play with artest. maybe throw chuck hayes and brent barry in there. nasty nasty nasty defense.
It's even less news-worthy then I initially thought, as I assumed when reading his clarification/backtrack that the negotiations had temporarily stopped. But you're right, he didn't even go that far.
