Not sure if anybody has seen this, and not really sure if I know what I am doing but here it goes. An Eastern swing for Rockets The SuperSonics have applied to relocate to Oklahoma City, doing all they can to get out of Seattle as soon as they can. Not that they are eager to move, but they beat the NBA deadline to apply by four months and made the announcement the day after selling out their home opener. The Sonics are trying to leave their Key Arena lease, which runs through the 2009-10 season, early to get out of town by next season. If the SuperSonics do end up in Oklahoma City — and it now appears to be when, rather than if — the league might need to reconfigure the divisions. With that in mind, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander might have already chatted up commissioner David Stern about his team's glorious history and tradition as a member of the NBA's Eastern Conference. Doesn't make much sense, but as long as they are on the subject ... jonathan.feigen@chron.co I just want to know what the Rox fans think about this.
If we do.... HaHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!! Watch out Eastern Conference, Yao and McGrady are going to own! (of course in reality I hope this wouldn't happen....)
This has been discussed in the JL3 thread shown here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=137023 Rockets: say no to the East.
I hope not either I guess. I like being in the toughest division. I lost all respect for the Seahawks when they moved to the NFC in football. I like having to fight for a playoff spot but in the East we would rule for sure.
East would suck, There will be less whop-ass for the jazz, dallas, spurs in the next 3-5 years. So say no to the east.
im confident in the rockets enough to win it all , regardless of which conference, so in saying that, may as well stay in the west, winning it all without having to face pheonix/utah/dallas/spurs on the way to the finals just wouldnt feel right. no need to scurry to the east, we're strong enough to hold our own and win it all this season, and if we wanna start a new era of rockets winning championships, taking the easier path just isnt cool the added difficulty of coming out on top in the WC is worth the satisfication when we beat our rival teams, this season we MUST face dallas or utah , (or even better both) and beat their asses!
So the question is... Do we trade what is likely more regular season wins for ... A bunch of much less exciting games and less battle-hardening for the games that matter? I would prefer staying in the West.
Even though Eastern conference has been improved this year, they still got long way to go to catch up Western conference. I hope we will stay where we belongs.. which is most excitin and toughest div; SOUTHWEST DIVISION~ Also if one of western conference team has to move, It should be Memphis. They sucks and I am sure they wanna get out of our division. They totally located on EAST side of U.S.,too. Peace,
Uh, assuming Sonics are moving to OKC then how does that open an Eastern swap? And, yes DD, I do believe you're correct that NO and Griz are east of Houston. So...what?
If we move, it's all good. Just means less 9:00 PM games, not to mention an easier road to the Finals and if other fans whine about that well at them. If we don't move, just makes crushing Utah and Dallas all the more greater.
I've always thought that too. Or even the T-Wolves, since they 'fit better' with all of the cold, hockey-loving cities in the Eastern Conference.
lol at the people that don't get it. yeah we aren't going east. NO or memphis would. and memphis probably will, they are REALLY far east.
