in a few years this may help yao's extention DA's addition Tmac James Especially Swift and Howard rockets may win the title in 1 - 6 years from now. If they got sprewell I think they would have been better than right now but they are a really good team. If they win a title a lot of players would want to join the rockets.
1-6 years? well thats a broad range i think if things go well for us we should be contenders this season and favorites the next...but 6 years? alot of changes take place during a span of time that long with the business side of the league the way it is. and who wouldnt wanna join the rockets squad right now? not that we are short of talent anyways we have enough of talent to win a championship, i'll venture to say even this year could be a possibility. houston has always been a great place for big free agents and having yao and tmac on your roster only helps that cause, so your point is mute there.
Rockets Might Win The Championship This is something about the rockets and how they have improved. Yao's extension, Swifts addiion, DA's addition, James off the bench, Howard off the bench, Tmac being the real franchise, and Deke being a great backup, Wesley as to short to start at the shooting guard so him and Barry are coming off the bench for Anderson. This is team capable of winning the championship
I agree with a lot of what bigbodymoe had to say. We are title contenders this year and we were last year too. We had some unlucky calls, bad referees every game, a player who started at SG during game one of the regular season was finishing games at the PF position, we're going to be real good this year. Looking at the stats after turning 21(and I know stats aren't everything), Tmac is a similar player to MICHAEL JORDAN. Yao Ming is the type of player who changes the way the game is played. We've got chemistry flowing out of the doors of the Toyota center. We've got two new additions with experience and lost no key players in the offseason. We've got a rookie who's athleticism may lead to some contributions this year. On top of all that, our coach got rid of the combover! I've said this before and I think if our team goes into the season truly focused, we can be 73-9. No, I'm not kidding. Jordan had a good team and an excellent side kick in Pippen. Tmac has a good team and Yao Ming.
Many of you probably think I'm crazy for thinking this team could even touch the 72-10 Bulls, but I think there are some similarities. Best player athletic, high scoring, driven, amazing, etc. Second best player with a high basketball IQ, not the leader, but definitely comes to play every night, picks up where the leader drops off, etc. Quick power forward that can play defense. Other players just fit well. West is very competitive. I'll be happy with 57 wins. 72 wins is untouchable and reserved for the greatest team of all time. The Bulls had been together for quite a few years and enjoyed championships before they won 72 games. You can't buy chemistry and championship experience. We're all excited about this upcoming season, but let's beat the Spurs before we talk about breaking win records
If this 10 year old, that I saw schooling the other 5th graders at the local park, goes to college, develops in to an All American, gets drafted by the Rockets, turns in to the best to ever play the game and has the right supporting cast around him, the Rockets can win the title in 15 years.
For some perspective, looking six years into the future in the NBA is like the weatherman trying to look a couple of months off. The new CBA was only for six years for crying out loud.
