From e-blastoff We have just been informed that the Oakland area may be part of the rolling blackout in California tonight, which might knock out the Rockets vs. Warriors TV broadcast, both radio broadcasts and the game itself. As some of you may know, the West Coast is dealing with an energy crisis and these rolling blackouts have been implemented to try and combat the problem. The building in Oakland has a limited power supply generator that will only be able to supply power for emergency lights. This could affect the game itself as well. We are being told that there will be no preferential treatment given for any circumstance and that they have already shut off power at local hospitals in the area. The Rockets' broadcasting department is working on options should this blackout occur. E-Blastoff will keep you informed of any details or updates as they become available. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online

from e-blastoff As an update to our previous message, we just got word that The Arena in Oakland should be exempt from any rolling blackout, meaning tonight's Rockets-Warriors game should proceed as scheduled. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online

from e-blastoff As an update to our previous message, we just got word that The State of California has hired expert hackers in an effort to target home computer users that violate the mandate. Sources say that these hackers have located numerous voilaters via local, and international BBS. The hackers will notify authorities as to who "don't have anything to worry about". ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness. The arena is exempt, but hospitals aren't?! ------------------ Is it any coincidence that the Cato is the only Rocket with a temperature scale named after him? I didnt think so!!!!
Good point shanna, I was wondering the same thing! ------------------ "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Gandhi
Hospitals and airports are exempt. The rule of thumb is customers who provide "essential safety and public health services" are let out of the blackouts. Police stations, for example, are also exempt. But the system isn't full-proof -- two hospitals did report losing power yesterday. ------------------
