Interesting. TGrey got better and better as he was a total wreak his 1st season but I think he's got a long way to go before he'd be considered good. Hopefully this new guy can get some life into the building. I know I'll be doing my part to add some life.
I thought the Memphis PA was the most annoying PA voice in the NBA, oh well, I'm sure I'll like since he is on the Rockets side now.
Thank god. I really didn't like T-Gray, he just wasn't right for the job. From what I've heard on League Pass, the Memphis guy is more in my image of a PA man.
Its about time. TGrey is just not announcer material. Puts you to sleep. No wonder everybody is snoozing at the games.
Who was the PA guy during the Championship years? I never knew who he was, so all I remember is: "HAKEEEEEEM, THE DREEEEEEAM, OLAAAJUUWOOON!"
Rockets fans will love John Paul Stevenson and I can vouch for this. Ive herd him in person at a Grizz game at FedExForum. He'll remind Rocket fans of the days of Matt Thomas with the "Alright Houston, on your feet" intro during the glory days of 94-95.... But on top of that, Stevenson has this "Growl" in his voice.....man is frickin awsome! For Pau Gasol, its Pauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Gasooooooooooolllllllllllllllll! In fact, this move in PA Announcer, along with that Rocket in the Scoreboard tehy use during the intros, now has me thinkin the Rockets are resurrecting the "Alright Houston" intro for next season. Alright Houston, on your feet.......Maybe?
I figured you'd remember to put more than one "O" at the beginning of his last name. He must have held it for a good 3 or 4 seconds most games. Concerning the original topic, I know nothing of the Memphis PA announcer but I agree that he can't possibly be worse than TGrey. What a douche that guy was (as the PA announcer anyway).
BINGO! We've got youtube on John Paul Stevenson. Personally, I'm very pleased with what I hear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tTpK2JQUzM
Yep, Im sure all can hear that "Growl" in Stevenson's voice that I mentioned earlier in this thread. But honestly, that video doesnt even do him justice. You just have to hear it in person....its deep and angry. Its like the Astros PA guy at MMP. On TV, he sounds ordinary. At the game, his voice booms like some would imagine the voice of God would boom from the heavens--as Bill Simmons put it in his ESPN review of MMP. The Rockets just gained themselves one of the best PA guy's in the NBA.
