As I do not know much about the other rosters in the league past their starting lineups and 6th men, I wanted to see if anyone here could educate the BBS on the Rockets' main competitors to land Bosh. The Rockets have some great assets eg. Expirings: Yao, Battier, Jeffries, Hayes (if team option is taken) Draft Picks: This years 14th, 2011 NY pick, 2012 NY and HOU picks Youth: Brooks, Lowry, Budinger, J-Hill, J-Taylor, Llull Who are the Rockets' main competitors for sign and trade deals for a guy like Bosh or similar? Please don't just state the team and nothing else. If you can list their assets, and maybe a comparison with the rockets' assets as listed above. We can get some interesting dicussion going. This may help us figure out how much of a player, the rocekts really are this offseason.
Dallas is probably the biggest competition. He is from Dallas and they will have good options for a trade. Many people thought that he would possibly go to OKC, but he said in an interview that he wouldn't.
Exactly, it's the offseason, so don't give me hate over this post. It's interesting discussion. This is a discussion board isn't it?
Bosh is going to dictate this whole thing, so it's not so important what other teams have to offer ... it's a matter of who he decides he wants to go to. He has said he wants these things: (1) a big city (2) a contender and (3) to be "the man" . Based on that I think it pretty much narrows it down to us and Dallas as the top suitors. The Lakers could make a play with Bynum, but no way he's going to be the man in LA. Chicago and Miami are other possibilities I would think, and New York last on the list IMO based on the fact that they won't a lot to offer via S&T. I honestly believe it will come down to us, Dallas, and Chicago.
Dallas will make a run, using Dampier (essentially a non-guaranteed final year) and possibly Jason Terry with draft pick(s). Not a heart-stopping package. Any team under the cap (minus the Knicks, lol) can offer a TE, a high value player (rookie deal), and draft pick(s). Bulls (Taj Gibson?) Nets (Courtney Lee and/or Yi) Clippers (probably not...unless they would take Kaman) Heat (Beasley and/or Chalmers) The Lakers (Bynum?) Cavs? I wouldn't be surprised - Varejao plus Jamison? Spurs - Manu + McDyess Honestly, we may have the most attractive spread, being able to offer 3-4 starting caliber players (at worst, solid rotation guys at good value).

I can't see Dallas as a competitor, they don't have any good players under the age of thirty. Toronto wants young pieces and picks. He doesn't want to go to OKC Lakers are out, he would only be the co-second option with Gasol. Knicks have no assets to trade back. Chicago and Miami are the only real opposition, and we could put together a better package than them. Houston is clearly Toronto's best option, but does Bosh want to come here.
Yes, but they don't need assets to trade back. He'll be a free agent and they have room for two maximum contracts.
Bosh want money, he needs Toronto to sign him to get more money, therefore if he wants money and a new team he needs a sign and trade.
You're forgetting the "contender" stipulation. No chance the Knicks are contenders next year. Even if they pull off a miracle and sign two top-tier players, there's no supporting cast. I don't see it happening. Besides, it's almost guaranteed the Raptors do a sign-and-trade. Toronto wins because they don't lose Bosh and get nothing in return, and Bosh wins because he can sign for a higher amount with Toronto than he can with anyone else.
You seem to be confused. Bosh is the one making the decisions, not the Raptors. It really doesn't matter how many assets we have for trade.
