I met Darkhorse and Moe, talk about some pimps! Gold chains, diamonds, the whole lot! j/k [IMG]

My wife's taking me out for Indian, so I'll keep this short and sweet. The Rockets lost.

    That was short.

Eddie Griffin rocks. Eddie got a bunch more touches this game than the game I saw Friday (I haven't seen Sat.'s notes, so I don't know if that was the case Sat. too). He didn't seem like a powerhouse offensively... though he seemed to get a few put-backs. What sticks out is the fact that he touches loose balls all of the time. He also is still challenging every shot. He might not have the best position for every shot block... but he goes for it.

    That's sweet.

Hopefully Darkhorse will land an interview w/ Eddie. I had hoped to take a photo of the two of them talking, but alas, my wife wants to take me out (i.e. screw you guys, I've got a date).

Included in this day's photo batch: shots of pig, Rudy and Mr. Mean, and our evil nemesis Coach Wilkens. I had sent these to both Clutch and crispee just to cover multiple bases in getting the photos shown (I have no ftp site that's working now), but crispee's server just bounced for me. If you want to see photos, you'd better hope that Clutch isn't too busy tonight. [IMG]

Good night all! Samosa! Taj Mahal! Chicken Tikka! Garlic Naan! Adios!

No dice with Eddie... None of the Rockets came out into the public area thanks to the Jazz game. It was just too full, and it wasn't worth it...

On the other hand... on the way to my car, I saw Rudy, Jim, Larry, and Keith all walking together, and I tried to get to them before they got in the car and left, but again, no dice.

I struck out all over the place... Didn't even get good stats tonight... Ratings as soon as I can get to them... Business to take care of at the moment...

Pimp, indeed. As it turns out, Achebe was a few feet away from us at Friday's game. I can't believe we didn't notice a guy taking pictures and he didn't notice a guy taking notes and a guy with a palm pilot. Oh well, we were just too fockassed I guess.

I think we had too much fun yakking at each other tonight, though, because the notes were definately not so complete.

Unfortunately, Eddie was guarding Randolph most of the time. Let me tell you, though, Randolph has very good footwork and is a very good post up player. He has the big body to go with the footwork and will be able to score in the NBA. I thought Eddie gave a lot of effort and had his own moments.

Eddie had a big block on Randolph in the 4th that I thought might ignite the Rocks and carry them to the win. Dan hit a jumper right after that and Rocks led 78-76 with 2:46 to go. However, that was the last lead. Rockets pulled to within 2 with 56 seconds left and again with less that 15, but couldn't quite pull it out. It was a good game. Langhi's touch was back and he scored much better and Kelly played a very nice game. At the beginning of the game, Kelly had a clean-up jam of a Langhi miss where he was way above the rim. You saw what Sneed did in Barberdg's post. Those two just continue to play their butt's off.

I got to the game about an hour early. Phoenix and Memphis were playing. They reserved a section for players right next to where we sitting (my brother and I) and where we also sat the first two games. I was talking to Eddie's cousin Perry again. He said that he had asked Eddie if he wanted to talk to us at Saturday's game & Eddie said yes, but they didn't see us after the game. Darkhorse and I had moved across the gym to talk to the coaches. Anyway, as I'm talking to Perry, I look over my shoulder and T-Mo is sitting there with a bunch of kids around him getting autographs. Perry says "There's T" I waited for all the kids to get an autograph and leave, then moved over to see if he would talk to me. I'll put that interview and another one I did with Keith Jones in another reply, since this one is getting long.

You should make your own tv drama show. Right when its getting good, it becomes To Be Continued. Your post is not even long. [IMG]

Okay, here's the interviews, right after this word from our sponsor. j/k
    T-Mo
After the kids got their autographs, I moved across the aisle and asked T if I could ask him a few questions. He kind of hesitated, but smiled and said sure. I couldn't think of any real good questions, so I pretty much asked the standard ones.

I asked what he thought about his play so far this summer. He said that he thought he had gotten a little better each game and that he was trying to fit in. He thinks things are going pretty good so far.

I asked what he thought about playing so many positions. He said he had played the 2 through the 5 so far, but thought he would settle in mainly at the 2 and 3. He said they are pretty much the same position any way.

I asked if he was looking forward to playing with Steve again. He said he was. He said he probably played his best ball when he was playing with Steve.

I asked what he did on the off day yesterday and he said he mainly just rested.

He said he was going to Houston after the RMR and check things out. I said I thought he would like the city, that it had a lot going for it for a big city, if you can get used to the heat. He smiled and said he likes the heat. I thanked him for the interview and moved back across the aisle.

    Keith Jones

Keith was standing back in the corner behind the basket restricted to players and officials. I had been wanting to talk to him. I actually had better questions to ask him. I called him over and asked if I could talk to him for awhile. I told him I was sending in some reports for Clutchcity.net the Rockets fans website and he seemed familiar with it. He asked me to sit down in the reserved area.

I told him that it's obvious that he is more that the trainer for the Rockets. I said we see you in the huddle during time-outs talking to the players and to Rudy. He said, of course he takes care of all the medical duties. He also takes care of all the travel...motels, buses or other transportation, etc. During the games, he said Rudy asks him to watch certain things. He watches the other teams substitutions and also to see if the players show signs of fatigue. I got the impression that Rudy may also ask him to watch for other various things during games.

Keith told me his title is actually Head Trainer/Player Liason. He said he acts as a go-between for the players and management/ownership. If the players have a problem or concern, they go to Keith. Then he talks to management on their behalf. It works the other way, too, if management wants to address something with a player, they go through Keith.

He said he works with CD on a daily basis. He says he knows the game pretty well and is now learning the business aspect of it.

I asked about the rest of the staff on the Rockets. He said there are two video guys who provide game film. There are 2 or 3 advance scouts for upcoming games as well as scouts at the college and high school level. There are some office staff. CD has a secretary, of course. There is an equipment man and assistant and of course a strength and conditioning coach, as well as the assistant coaches.

Jim Boylen had mentioned the coaches were going to play golf on the off day, so I asked him about that. He said yes, they played. I asked him who had the low score. He said Rudy did with an 81. I was impressed. I asked if that was legit or did they take mulligans. He said it was legit. I asked if they had any bets. He said they played teams and changed teams every 6 holes. He said they played for a coke at the end. Ha! Ha!

Keith is a class act, as are all the Rocket coaches. I would have liked to talk to Rudy, but he usually came in after the game started and was never accessable like the other coaches were. I am driving back to Boise tomorrow morning, so the other pimps will continue here in Salt Lake City. Maybe they will be able to talk to Eddie and Rudy.
