Rockets rumored to be interested in Shammond Williams

The Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, and Houston Rockets are believed to be suitors for Williams.

Shammond Williams is a combo guard. What exactly would we want with him if Moochie is here?

It seems to me that the Rockets may be considering sending Fegan a "*&*% You" Note.

After the Fegan/Olajuwon ordeal, maybe the Rocket management is "gun shy". As we all know, Fegan is Moochie's agent as well!

i think mainly because shammond is a better shooter, probably won't cost as much, and runs a better point guard.

just my opinion. mooch is a gr8 fan favorite. i understand that. but i think shammond is a better guard for the money.

Well, the Sonics are preparing to/have offered him the league minimum from what I've heard, and he could be had cheap ie: 1-1.5 million.

He can backup at the 1 and 2, and though not the passer that Moochie is, is the better scorer and defender.

I'd definitely take him over Colson. If you're going to have a 4th guard on your team, and he comes cheap, you might as well make it a good one that'll raise the level of competition of play in practice.

I heard Toronto was the frontrunner for his services as of right now. He was just in Toronto for Vince's charity basketball game.

I'd rather bring him in as the backup 2 and let Shandon walk. That's the "f*ck you" I want to send to Fegan.

here's the numbers (for those who are #s driven):

shammond 6’1”

18 minutes per
avg. 5 shots per game @ 44%
2 three’s per game @ 46%
88% free throw
2.8 assists
0.4 steals
only 1.2 turnovers
6.8 ppg
26 yrs old

mooch 6’1”

20 minutes per
avg. 5 shots per game @ 45%
1 three per game @ 28%
78% free throw
3.5 assists
.8 steals
1.3 turnovers
6.6 ppg.
27 yrs old.

the #s are close, except for the 3 point shooting (BIG edge shammond).

difference is that moochie takes - imo - entirely too much time with the ball in the half court set.

oh yea, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

shammond @ 1.5 - 2 million or mooch @ 4+ mill???

no brainer.

I'm sure that fro on Mooch isn't worth an extra $3M. For $30k a year we can hookup Shammond w/ his very own personal barber.

Shammonds fro use to be bigger than Moochies. But he never did any cool things to it like Moooochie.

The thing is though that Moochie is a fan favorite and hes great friends with Francis and Cuttino. Moochie loves the city of houston. I wouldnt even mind signing both Moochie and Shammond.

There actually may be more here than what meets the eye, folks.

They have Jelani, OHOH, Vinnie and just signed Calvin Booth. Seems to me they have an abundance of centers. Mmmmmm.

A guard maybe the least of their conversations.

Shammond definitely would not be right for this team. I heard somewhere that the raptors may offer him their 4.5 million exception to get him. I would not pay him half that much. He wouldn't not be good for this teams chemistry. I've seen him play a couple of times and he is just too immature and sometimes selfish. Avoid at all costs!

I was thinking the same thing oeilpere. A sign-and-trade for Jelani perhaps? And since Shammond is on the market the media might be ASSUMING the Rockets are interested in him, or the Rocks may be interested in him as well if Fegan forces Mooch out of Houston. Hey oeilpere, is it possible, or are the Rockets even considering, signing Jelani AND Marc Jackson? That would go a long way towards shoring up our center position for next year.

I'm not sure if you guys read it in the Chronicle but Fegan said that Anderson and Moochie are Rockets and that they feel very strongly about remaining in Houston. He sees no reason why they won't be re-signed.

i completely disagree about him not being good for the team. where was this selfishness you speak of?

are you basing this on him having lower assist #s? that can be explained by the plethora of isolation plays mooch had called for him, where he frequently dished to the shooters or cutters.

are you basing this on shammond's shooting? cause i'll take 46% 3pt shooting from a "selfish" shooter.

and you say you wouldn't pay him half as much as 4.5 million. so, you'd only give him 2.25 (which is probably the MOST is would take), but you'd give mooch 4 - 4.5 million (which is what it might take)? explain, please.

Guys, Moochie nails game-winners.

You cannot buy that.

If these reports are true, I think it is merely posturing. We want and need Moochie. We need no one else.

That said, he IS going to take backup pay, or I would leave him. You can bluff moochie. He will not leave if you offer him a longterm contract at a lowball number. Cuttino would never invite him to his mother's house for dinner again.

Well that's great news, Moochie returning. What about the chances of signing McCoy AND Jackson?

Jeff,I hope that we do end up resigning Moochie.I wouldn't mind resigning S.Anderson if he costs less than 5 million.Do you know how close we are to resigning them, with a guy like Fegan you never know, but I get the feeling that we might end up overpaying both of them.
Another question that I have is concerning Mo Taylor, everything is so quite about him.I hope that we will sign him quickly,I would prefer to sign him instead of Anderson.
