Let me know when lack of cap room costs us a good player.

Until then, your argument just doesn't work.

Howard switched agents during last season and was still with the Rockets until the bitter end.

@larsv8 i remember you made some posts related to our possible cap situations in free agent scenarios so i would like to know if there's a way for us to have one max spot next summer without having to dump Ryan's contract, who/how many players we would need to dump in his place?

Depends on what number you want for max? Max is like 3-4 different numbers.

Let's say a 10+ year veteran so we basically cover all the options

We need Rudy Gay. We need another legit scorer asap to contend with the upper echelon teams. Just bringing Gordon off the bench is not going to cut it. Beverly and Brewer in your starting 9-man rotation is killing us. I would rather trade D-Mo, Beverly and Brewer for Gay and Temple.

I'd only be for this trade for Gay if he strictly comes off the bench. And from my understanding we can't trade Dmo because he's still not officially under a contract with the Rockets.

I can't see the Kings trading Gay and Temple for Dmo (who didn't even receive a contract offer), Brewer and Beverley. Unless Gay gets injured..

Roc Nation is referring to Jay-Z's agency, not his team

Blake Griffin and Gordon Hayward are the two premiere free agents this offseason, who are 30% max players.

In the scenario below you could dump Corey Brewer with our first rounder, and not pick up non rotation player options. That gets you to 23 million. Then you have some tougher decisions on who to dump to get to the 30 or 35 million.

I'm not suggesting trading Ryan Anderson purely for cap room.

Rudy Gay is offers a comparable impact & allows us flexibility at the same time. If both we're on identical contracts, keep Anderson. If we can pickup a Gay caliber player and maintain cap flexibility in the same swoop, no brainer. Gay + Cap room > Anderson.

Will the stars align to where that cap room makes a difference? Probably not. If they somehow do, we probably lose Ariza instead.

If I was more confident in our ability to move Anderson, I'd ignore this scenario. I think it requires a Kings style delusion to take on that contract without giving up additional assets.

Gay starting at 3, Ariza coming off the bench as his back up would be perfect
