I thought this was kind of interesting since after watching a few games we didnt look that good defensively. 87.6 ppg allowed http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/stati...005&seasontype=2&avg=pg&order=false&split=999
& we are #25 in point per game. JVG style of bball is slow and dirtty. He likes to grind out the win.
The average number of points your team gets on any given possession. Take the number of possessions in the game and divide that into the number of points and you get points per possession. [for the word problem challenged] points in the game/possessions in the game [/challenged]
We are also #2 in "Opponents' field goal percentage". I think this is an even more important stat than the "points allowed per game". Once we can get our offense going, watch out!
Is there a way to calculate PPP from a boxscore? I would figure no, since you can't tell the number of possessions that end in free throws.
So, we are basically losing .5 ppg (87.6 ppg - 87.1). That explains why we are just barely under .500.
Look at Indiana and Orlando's records and points differential and tell me what it means in their cases.
Well since they both have pretty good records, I guess it means that when they lose, they are getting blown out and when they win, they are just eeking out victories.
