Rockets' jerseys are poorly designed

Has anybody else noticed how the shoulder areas of the Rockets' jerseys are far wider than those of any other jerseys in the league? The jerseys also look heavier and bulkier than the jerseys worn by other teams.

The shoulder area hangs over the end of most of the players' shoulders, especially the smaller players. They make many of the players look like kids because they don't appear to fit well.

This design can't be optimal for a basketball player, especially during the shooting motion.

The Spurs, Pistons, Mavericks, and all other teams for that matter, have jerseys that appear lightweight with thin shoulder areas and the jerseys seem to actually fit the players.

I wonder if any of the players themselves have ever had an issue with the jerseys.

I personally think the colors and logo are fine but that we need to change the fit of the jerseys. What do you guys think?

    noooooob!

the players were the ones who chose the width of the shoulders and the material that the rockets are using are lightweight.

The colors and logo are the important thing. If the players really had a problem with the fit of the jerseys, I'm sure the Rockets would have altered it by now.

Is that a fact that the players chose the width of the shoulder areas when they switched to the new jerseys?

Noob or not, the Rockets jerseys are the only ones in the league that are that wide over the shoulders.

Yes it is. The players complain about the old pajama jersey has very thin shoulder area, which makes them easy to slip down to the arm all the time.

yea, the players didn't want the shoulders to wide or too narrow, so it's just in between.

I read through the entire link from 2003. I saw absolutely nothing about the players having any input other than regarding the use of the word "Rockets" over "Houston" on the jersey, which is not the point I am making here.

I saw several people raising the same issue about the shoulder areas being cut too wide.

Somebody also mentioned how Francis didn't like the feel of the new jersey. I seem to remember Steve having an issue with the feel now that I read that link.

It appears that the desgin of the jersey was mostly based on marketability with little no input from the players.

I still don't see anything about the players having a say in the cut of the jersey. The link you provided us only further supports my point.

Fit is most important. Colors and logo come second. No reason you can't have both.

I still think the jerseys are poorly cut and that most of the players would agree to a change if it was possible.

Also, most of the current roster weren't even on the team back in 2003. Only Francis and Yao.

Rockets aren't changing the jersey just for you, take it to a seamstress.

Hey, I don't want them to change it for me. I only care about the Rockets winning games.

If the players feel comfortable with those double-wide shoulder cuts, then great. They just look uncomfortable compared to the rest of the jerseys throughout the league.

The only reason I would care is if the players are affected negatively by the unusual cut of this jersey. Maybe the players have complained and there is some reason they can't do anything about it.

Apparently, the players did not feel comfortable in them back in 2003, including Francis.

I am sure they aren't so uncomfortable that the players would lose sleep over it. Plus, the previous jerseys were so heinous visually that players were probably willing to deal with the minor discomfort.

The bottom line is that if there is a more comfortable cut for the players, wouldn't you prefer it, too. Especially now that we are going to be transitioning to an uptempo style of play.

Read the link that Tonaaay added... fans and players definitely had some issues back then and probably still do. Maybe there is a contractual reason that they can't make a change.

I don't think the poor jersey design is a showstopper, but if there is a way to address it and the players want it, it should be done.

I remember Kelvin Cato saying that he liked the material. They are lighter and more silky than the previous unis.

I'm sure we can ressurect this topic if we need to make an excuse for the rockets losing a few games.

I don't like Rockets' jerseys either. Damn for me they're too needy. Well, at least the road jerseys are pretty ok, but I really have our jerseys at home I mean white. I also hated our old dours, but we changed it and now it's perfect. So why shouldn't Rockets create a new jerseys, maybe at least alternative jerseys?

I know they're not gonna make it. Just thinkin'...

Thanks, Tonaaayyyy. That does help. I guess they had input on the cut and feel, too.

If the players are comfortable, that is all that matters. The upper section of the jersey just doesn't appear right to me. Of course, I am just a Rockets fan, not a Rockets player who actually wears the jersey in a game situation.

I just wanted to throw this topic out there and hear other people's opinions.

I just feel like the road jersey shade doesn't flatter T-Mac's skin tone.

These 3 pictures show the difference in shoulder cuts between various jerseys. If I were picking a jersey (forget color and logo, etc...), I would prefer the shoulder cut of the Lakers' or Spurs' jersey over our double-wide cut.

These are images of official jerseys. Notice the significant difference in shoulder cuts.
