Assuming money is the only thing that interests Jalen -- you really dont think he could make the shortfall up if he becomes a face of the league? With all his modeling and endorsements? If I was in Jalens position I'd much rather pick where I play vs how much I make. He's already financially secure.
No, I don't think you can make up 100 mil plus in guaranteed money in the first half of your career. It's just not going to happen. Now, what COULD happen is Jalen is good, not great. So, good enough for someone to throw max money at him, but not so good that we are necessarily willing to do so in 2026. Then, I could see him opting out and taking the money. But I seriously doubt that happens. If Jalen is truly great, this is what I think will happen. He'll opt out in 2026 at 24 and we'll resign him to a 5 year max at either 25% with supermax escalators or 30% if he makes an All NBA Team (someone please confirm this). This will likely include a PO. Then, he'll opt out of that in the 2030 offseason at 28 and resign for 5 years, 35%. After that, who knows. But there's no way he's turning down those kind of guarantees if offered.
Those particular kinds of SOF are ALL over Twitter and Insta too tbh, do you not remember hakeem94 posting their own Twitter all day every day?
To me, I think the Rockets messed up. He now has the option to pick where he can play after 3yrs. And if he keep at his current pace, since March of last season, you're looking at a free agent, 25yr old SG, at the height of his NBA career. He's a Cali kid....Lakers? Sacramento? Clippers?
Again, why would he accept the chance of potentially -- but not certainly -- signing a 4 yr max contract in 2027 when he can sign a 5 year max contract in 2026? It makes no sense. We can pay him more, for longer, and sooner.
I feel Stone may dig in his Morey understudy bag and extend him after next season with those similar to how Morey kept giving Harden added max yrs when Harden was at that 3-4 yr straight Finalist top 3 MVP candidate, If mistaken about Morey doing this.... my bad This of course hinges on Green staying the course of the start of this yr with the final 25 or so game stretch to end last yr .....if he can stay between current 28ppg (40-42% from 3) to 24ppg (37% from 3 & good efficiency) next two seasons he won't make it to free agency
What we can hope for is that one, he busts out and two, that we're in contention by then. A max on a winning team would be hard to pass up. Because by that time he could quite possibly be the King of H-Town.
Bet you REALLY hate that, with his afro hair and everything. Imagine if he plays well all season, how will you ever cope?
I find it interesting ....You do you. Is it the player that makes you hate his Only fans......I doubt that..... Thanks very much, I cope very well because I have a safe space called real life, even if that is in danger, I would not let basketball dictate what I am.
Stop ducking, I don't hate you, you wrote that you had an issue with Jalen because of his Afro hair. No deflecting is going to work, answer why that is?
Its business on both sides. Fans too often feel that their perspective(s) are anything similar to how an athlete may respond to a new arc. Its a selfish fandom of course, but the humanity aspect of the path gets lost. Everyone is just so happy to sweep the slander and downright ugly hatred that he experienced as a Houston Rocket under the rug because NOW he's "good" ... this kid got into a very public cyber beef with one of those haters! He's in tune with the vibe. I think he takes that into consideration when its time to pick a forever home and I dont think money is going to be the most important thing for him. He's going back to Cali.
I’m extremely skeptical some Twitter hate would make him pass on the extra 100 mill that we could offer him. Seems very unlikely.
If he does well the only fear is a bigger market will poach him away. We could offer him the world and he could still turn us down to ring chase or take his talent to a bigger market team. It's a discussion further down the road but could b reality if he continue this type of performance
Independently sure that could be unlikely, but that incident was the crashing of a wave. Jalen is a social media child. He saw everything I saw. I still go back to the guy just not seeming money hungry. Buddy came out the mud he's already set for life. He didnt spend the whole offseason moping and giving interviews about "his money" .... how much does someone need in the end? I think some of you guys have him pegged wrong. I want to believe this city has given him a reason to plant his roots here beyond the money. Not sure I see that, but obviously I would be one of the guys who genuinely want him around so I wouldnt be upset, just that I guess I can see this thing in a different light than others who are now suddenly fighting for places on the bandwagon.
I guess I didnt just see Jalen Brunson pass up 100M in order to "team build" at his destination of choice huh?
