Yawn! Nothing exciting about Brad Miller. I'd rather have the cap space. Unless Chicago wants our excess baggage... ------------------ In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.
Thanos -- good post there ... why don't you copy and paste those comments here then so they won't be lost. Also, I haven't been able to find documentation that Miller's contract could end this offseason... I only see it being a 3-year deal. I'm with Thanos and SamCassell -- if it isn't guaranteed beyond this season and he could create cap space, then I'm for it. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited February 20, 2001).]
Wait a minute, I don't understand--- I don't watch many Bulls games (shame, shame), but on the front page, Clutch said his stats are 7 pts and 4.7 rebs in 17 minutes/game. Isn't that pretty damn good for 17 minutes? Why aren't the Bulls playing this guy more? Is he not in shape? Are they worried about ruining team chemistry? Is there just a lack of minutes at that spot? I wouldn't have any problem acquiring a big body who can occasionally score. We all know Hakeem and Kelvin aren't exactly the ironmen of our team, and it would be kind of nice to have a big guy to fall back on. Plus, no more of Mo HAVING to play center in the absence of a center. But what would we have to give up? Even with all that, I don't want to give up much. ------------------ Jazzkiller
Sounds like a win-win situation if we can get him and dump Cato, Walt and Los in the process somehow... Brad Miller has a team-option at the end of the season which makes cutting him out a piec of cake... and he would help us out with the rebounding. Making Cato expendable as he would be the backup to Hakeem. ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
The first time I saw Brad Miller play was when he was in Charlotte. I don't recall who they were playing, but the minute I saw this guy, I wanted the Rockets to get him. He played about 20 minutes and absolutely dominated the glass. He got somewhere around 10 pts and 8 boards in very few minutes. He was unstoppable -- a true beast on the glass. Any chance to get him, imo, is worth it. He is not as athletic as Cato, but he hustles like Carlos Rogers. Personally, I think he would be an awesome pickup, and I'd be ecstatic if we got him. ------------------ All your base are belong to us
I believe Miami has the inside track on acquiring Miller. ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view. -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
We had a shot at getting him in the offseason, but after we got Mo, the team stopped pursuing him. I always thought that was a mistake as Brad would fill the rebounding needs that Mo back then didn´t seem capable of. He still isn´t, as a matter of fact. If we can correct that mistake and dump the pippen legacy while doing it... it´s a no brainer. ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
He has good per minute numbers, but you gotta wonder why he's struggling to find playing time in Chicago. I suppose the Fizer-Brand problem may take away a few of his minutes... but only 21 per game? What's going on there? ------------------ Why is it that everytime BC defeats a major conference opponent, that opponent promptly goes on a losing streak? PS. Notre Dame sucks
It seems like a mistake now, because Cato has been so injury prone, but if we had signed Miller, there woul dhave been some uprising on this board. Four centers does seem like a bit much. ------------------ "Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching."
I don't like Brad Miller's game. Of course he hustles, he has to, because he has NO TALENT! Hustle is only going to get you so far. See Ryan Bowen..... He is very slow, is not the rebounding machine some of you make him to be, and if you thought Kenny was bad at finishing, wait till you get a load of this guy. I'm laughing my ass off reading what some Bulls fans think the Rockets would offer for Brad freaking Miller. They think maybe a combo of Mo Taylor and Shandon Anderson. Some of those morons wouldnt trade Brad for Mo straight up. Also, some of them say the only way they trade Miller is if Cuttino is involved. I have lost all respect for Bulls fans, not that I had any for them to begin with. ------------------
No. No. No. Please No. This guy struggles to get minutes on the worst team in the league, and you want him here? No. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
I think the reason to make this trade has little to with Brad Miller, but what we can get rid of to get him. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Yea, I can understand it from that perspective, with only one year of Millers contract being guranteed I think and to clear cap room, but then you're setting yourself up for a big letdown if you dont sign webber. ------------------
Even if we don't get him, we do have draft picks. But don't worry. We WILL get C-Webb. Will, will, will. Ya gotta believe. If we can afford him, he'll be here. ------------------
With the Knicks negotiating for Motumbo, and the possible acquisition of a guy whose contract is up(and/or dumping some more dead weight),it would seem that CWebb looms. ..Miller could stay,if this deal goes down, but I like the idea of slashing him and convincing Dream to take much less and play with CWebb. ------------------ the fan formerly known as.... CD doesn't seem inclined to make any moves, so I doubt anything will happen, short of maybe trading Carlos Rogers to Miami for someone with an expiring contract. If we were to get Miller, though, what would he bring to the Rockets? Particularly offensively? ------------------
If we acquire Miller, then either Cato or Dream is gone. It might explain why Dream started playing so well. Maybe the Rockets are going to release him to go to Miami. I hope not. Miami, Phoenix, New York, & apparently the Rockets are looking for a center. Miller, Cato, & Mutombo are the only ones that appear to be available. If we get Miller, then hopefully, we can trade Cato to Miami or Phoenix for expiring contracts. Maybe we'll get Miller/Chicago's #2 pick this year for Walt/Drew draft pick obligation. I'd do that in a heartbeat. ------------------
