This is my first time in Austin/San Marcos area. I was wondering if you people in austin or san marcos who have Grande Communications Cable get the rockets on TV?

I had a buddy with Grande cable and unfortunately you won't get Rockets game, the only games you'll get is when the Rockets play the Spurs.

nope. you must become a slave to NBA league pass like the rest of us. sometimes even the spurs games are blacked-out in the austin region.
    yippee...

What about bars? Are there any bars that consistently show Rockets games?

I have Grande here in Austin and I just called them 3 minutes ago to see how fast they could hook me up with NBATV for tonight's game. She said "Do me a favor and check channel 225 for me" and it was on.

But yeah, if you have digital, buy the sports package for like $4.99/month and it'll get you a good 10 extra Rockets games. 35 or so games out of 82 still isn't bad, IMO.

Plus, you can go to places like Aussies or Showplace Lanes in Austin and they'll always have the game going.

I'm gonna try something new this year to see if I can catch all the games. I still have my DirectTV dish from when I yanked that crappy company out of my wallet. So I'm gonna get my parents to order another Houston-calibrated receiver from DirectTV and hook it up over here to get all the local Houston channels and the Houston version of FSSW. Anybody know if this works?

It's on Barton Springs in between South 1st and South Congress, where Barton Springs and Riverside intersect. Roughly 7 blocks directly south of 6th street and just on the other side of Town Lake. It's officially called Aussies Volleybar and Grill.

I'm in Austin with Time Warner and am going to get league pass this year (finally). I am slightly concerned with blackout dates. Are many Rockets games blacked out?

the only rockets games that are blacked-out in austin on league pass are against the spurs. most of those games are broadcast on foxssw, so it's not a big deal. also, espn, espn2, abc, or whatever sometimes consider that matchup worthy of being nationally televised. now that the rockets and spurs are both doing well they'll likely all be televised in austin. it was only really a problem when the rockets were suckin' (aka the stevie francis era.)

TW in San Marcos will have the same channels as Grande, so you will need Lpass.

No, only the Spurs games, and those are usually picked up on another channel.

The Tavern on 12th and Lamar is also a Rockets bar, though lots of Spurs fans also frequent it.

It's on NBATV tonight, so if you have the sports package you can watch it. The real question is not if it's on, but who is announcing it! During the "dry" years I got so sick of listening to the other guys announcers...

I used to live in Round Rock many years ago and if I am not mistaken if you live on the east side of I 35 you get the Rocket's games on foxsports net and if you live on the west side you get the Spurs. If this is correct maybe you can find a friend who lives on the east side to watch the games. Me, I'm SOL because I live in Waco and we get all the Dallas games. I think this is true because my cousin lives in Hutto and I think I've heard him complain about it because his favorite team is the Spurs. I apologize if this info is incorrect. God Bless
