Yao is beginning to work some inside plays to Hayes, Swift and even Tracy. They all have the athleticism to get there and work there near Yao, take the short pass from a double teamed Yao and put it up and in. Or to draw the foul and shoot two. The % completion on these type shots when this person is free is better than 50% and add on the FT's and it becomes a real winning situation. Witness than Stro especially has a much higher % of FT's to FGA's than Juwan the jump shooter; he has a higher FG%, as does Hayes. And this is a way to get Tracy inside - without the ball - and utilize him if he won't drive anymore (too many forearms?). Now, again flamers, I am not saying this becomes 100% of our offense - but with all the passing in & out we are doing - to 3p shooters who are hitting 33% for the year and less lately - our shooting % goes up, our FT's go up, our TO's probably go down with fewer passes being tipped or stolen. 2 points is still more than 0 from a missed and non-rebounded 3pter. It also positions Swift/Hayes/Tracy for rb's rather than having Juwan/Tracy on the perimeter ready to run back on defense when the 3pter clanks. And with Stro and Hayes playing more minutes and Tracy inside more then our ORB's go up. (Stro and Hayes both RB better than Juwan). We gradually cut Juwan's and Wesley's minutes some and rest them for the playoffs, raise Stro's and Hayes and integrate them more into the offense. Thoughts?
does anyone know how many touches per game yao is getting? also how this compares to the rest of the league (good post players)?
